In all seriousness, is that cable management alright?
First time building a machine with somewhat modern parts.
it doesnt look bad but the bottem part is almost too blurry to tell
near the psu
>cable management
what are those seagates
dead
No
Seagate, Toshiba, hgst
@nitrokojote looks fine you could maybe hide that sata cable by looping it behind the case backplate
Other than that it's good
I was thinking about that, but it put too much stress on the cable, so I left it be
It's not s long cable
Thanks though. It's an okay machine, it's better than what I used to rock
i5-2400, 8GB DDR3, 1TB HDD, GTX 650 2 GB OC, Biostar TH61A, and a Thermaltake Smart 500W
I've seen people curl sata cables around screwdrivers which helped with keeping a tidy look when plugged in
Don't know if that's any good on the cable though
,my friend its 2019
correct solut ion is no sata
all m.2 nvme
you can do nvme over a sata cable
with some SAS adapters <:alismirk:230784726615588865>
you used to get thin sata connectors but I think they're not offered anymore
nvm
Eh, oh well, it's only one SATA cable.
that cable management looks alright
easier to work with a modern case with cable management features, than a huge tower from 2007 that hardly has anything
Or just sprawling a BTX motherboard, two power supplies, and all that fun stuff on one side of a desk
really though it's just a Rosewill, you could tell by the cheap rivets on the plexiglass panel
will you fall for the SFF meme one day?
I did and haven't regretted a single thing
maybe
I'm stuck with ATX because the motherboard I have is that.
I ain't paying another $70 CAD to get a Chinese board of questionable quality
Thought my TH61A was doomed when it started acting up thanks to the lane bug
But I figured out how to save it
my next build will legit be Mini-ITX or even smaller if I can
welp he's right
smol computers are pretty neat
nowadays there is little reason to go bigger than matx
You can get a GPU more powerful than the one in my case around the same size
And this is a short card.
MSI GeForce GTX 650 2GB OC.
rate my smol computer frens
nice nas
based multimonitor.
about to order a Xeon E3-1245 v6 to put in it
already have 4x 8TB drives
>formatted windows/SSD
>made a txt file on the HDD with names of programs I use
>I forgot to save the txt file
made an oopsie there man
Oh yeah, when I was going through my stuff to find one of my heatsinks, I came accross a massive DVI cable
this thing is thicc.
The back of it looks like a rat's nest because I have a shitty d-link router with dd-wrt in bridged mode
Pretty sure I got that DVI cable at a liquidation store brand new like
5 years ago
And I just, used it once, packed it away, and forgot about it
after the format and linked my steam library map in steam settings literally every game needs a 500mb update?
wtf
some files get into appdata or something?
workshop/steam cloud content?
nah, its indie games/single player games
oh ok seems like its only some games
@porco can you recommend a small and cheap NUC or PC with 2 RJ45 connectors? i wanna build a small VPN server.
not sure if this counts as "cheap" though
cheap for a small business
up to 150 is fine
thanks
you're not going to get a NUC for 150
go for the odroid
kk
do I really need 2 rj45s?
it depends on what you want to do
you might need 2 RJ45
^
or you might not
Internet -> Router w/ modem -> VPN Server and everything else
people would connect to router over internet and access files inside the network
yes 2 x RJ45 might be more comfortable but you could do it with only one and use a switch in front
it would be a lot more work and shit to maintain though
VLANning etc
I would go for 2 x RJ45
ok. it has to go behind router, though, right?
cause the vpn server doesn't have means to connect to internet
not necessarily, you can put something in front of the router depending on your ISP
what do you put that little nuc into? dont you need some eclosure?
for example I have multiple WAN to my fiber, so I can put a switch in front of the router, the computers are behind the router, and the servers connect to the internet over the other WANs, without a router
also has 2 x RJ45
but since it's Chinese New Year next week, it might take a month to arrive
Estimated Delivery Time: 8-17days
CNY fren
yes but CNY
don't believe their lies
`Due to Chinese Lunar New Year holidays, orders placed during Jan 29th - Feb 12th, will ship out after Feb 13th, please kindly note it, thanks.`
