I can concur. I was largely ignorant as a youth, and I did not care about guns, nor politics and history. It wasn't until the last year or two that I have started ramping up my knowledge, and becoming more involved. I'm only 23 years of age so I'm lacking the vetted experience and time that perhaps some of you have invested over the course of your life yet my frustrations don't quell. I believe that we are losing culturally speaking, and many people are ignorant. However, I think our image is largely negative because of gun toting Alabama fuckers, and so many people aren't willing to have a conversation with one another and default to being enemies. I'm trying to figure out how I can make a difference but it feels both Democrats and Republicans don't care about us, the citizens. I'm going to continue to train, purchase gear, and reach Goon levels so if shit hits the fan I can live.

2019-08-16 03:20:12 UTC

Perhaps today's gun culture being more towards concealed/open carry is more due to the urbanization of America than anything else. Along with the crime rates in said urban areas.

2019-08-16 03:20:29 UTC

That's my take

2019-08-16 03:20:50 UTC

Im enjoying this free exchange of ideas

2019-08-16 03:21:19 UTC

fewer gun owners 'per capita' but the gun owners you do meet are huge second amendment guys and own to protect against two legged predators, not four legged ones

2019-08-16 03:22:22 UTC

Yah, I currently don't own a firearm, still live at home and mom doesn't want one in the house. But any I am looking at is mostly for cc/oc.

2019-08-16 03:22:44 UTC

For what it's worth, I have a 6 month old son and, as soon as we move out of California LOL, I'm going to buy one and teach him about guns hands on

2019-08-16 03:22:52 UTC

lucky......open carry is illegal in my state

2019-08-16 03:22:56 UTC

Agree with you guys. I also didn't grow up around guns. My parents were immigrants and owning a gun was unthinkable to them. I started getting interested in guns relatively recently. Friends and co-workers invited me to shoot with them at the range and I found it fun, and since I got into politics I've become convinced that I should own a firearm, not because I need it for hunting, but because it's my right as a citizen.

2019-08-16 03:23:30 UTC

yuma, have you tried to convert your parents also?

2019-08-16 03:23:38 UTC

It's a great privilege that I wouldn't have if I lived in other countries.

2019-08-16 03:23:45 UTC

Honestly hunting is more fun with a bow or crossbow

2019-08-16 03:24:33 UTC

@CritterKiller I walked my parents through my reasons for wanting a gun, and the research I had done, and despite both of them being nominally anti gun they let me have em in the house

2019-08-16 03:24:34 UTC

@A. Spader open carry is iffy. It's baned in the denver metropolitan area. not sure about the municipalities I live/work in.

2019-08-16 03:24:58 UTC

Nice. Document, and report. Prove your case.

2019-08-16 03:25:00 UTC

@CritterKiller Yes. I've converted my mom lol. She used to be really anti-gun. She now understands why Americans have a 2nd Amendment. I haven't really spoken to my dad about it, but he might come around with time.

2019-08-16 03:25:15 UTC

And fair point Spader. Congrats yuma!

2019-08-16 03:25:42 UTC

^^^^^^

2019-08-16 03:26:38 UTC

I don't think my parents are antigun, however I'm not sure my little brother is quite responsible enough to be around a firearm unsupervised. I was always a bit more mature for my age. I think that's why my dad was fine with me having a gun in my room at his age.

2019-08-16 03:26:59 UTC

It's a bit of a long read (that I shared elsewhere on social media), but y'all care if I post what my thoughts on this issue?

2019-08-16 03:27:15 UTC

I'm fine with that

2019-08-16 03:27:32 UTC

Should see the pos I had to read earlier from MC. I doubt your's is longer.

2019-08-16 03:28:06 UTC

Dope.

2019-08-16 03:28:10 UTC

Point of sale?

2019-08-16 03:28:11 UTC

*pats MC on the head*

2019-08-16 03:28:23 UTC

*piece of shit

```Kindness pays dividends.
It doesn't matter what your race, creed, color, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender expression, age, height, weight, physical or mental ability, veteran status, military obligations, and marital status is.
The right to protect yourself is a social justice issue. This public value to personal security, personal liberty, and private property is a universal right that should be protected against infringement by ever-increasing legislation.
That said, while this is an extremely politically charged issue denigrating a certain flavor of society is not healthy, nor beneficial towards our cause. If you are one of "those" people who inherently defaults to argumentum ad hominem then you're a disgrace to our country, the constitution, and what our Founding Fathers believed in.
Politicians choose to vote for what the majority are most outspoken on. This is largely caused by emotional response. Now, as a byproduct this is an extension of their career, and thereby their paycheck. They are literally catering to "whoever" to ensure their security rather than upholding the Oath they swore in office. They are traitors to you, your brethren, and the countries soil that you inhabit.
This is a cultural war, and with each passing year I fear we are losing. We are not only losing due to the polarization and fear mongering caused by the media, but we are losing because people are angry, misinformed, uneducated, or unwilling to learn and expand their skill set yet those who degrade said populous do nothing to push forward our discussion. They are abusing you, and the large majority are non the wiser.```
2019-08-16 03:30:57 UTC
```The 2nd amendment is in place to concretely protect your 1st, and every other in suit. They are a reflection of one another, and siblings of the same coin. This exists to restrict the Government from over reaching its boundaries. The technology of the firearm is irrelevant as every weapon in history has been created for militarized purposes at some point or another regardless of how successful it was for its time.

As such, those part of the LGBTQ+ community deserve to protect themselves from harms way. Women deserve to protect themselves from being raped. Minorities deserve to protect themselves from domestic terrorism. Single parents deserve to protect themselves from spousal abuse - restraining orders are but a piece of paper not worth wiping my ass with. Young adults who have been appropriately raised deserve the chance to protect themselves in event of being home alone. You, the American people, deserve to not be used and abused.

If I can end this off on a good note to push through to those on the fence, or who largely don't care; the Governments interference is all but a few minor steps from reducing every citizen to nothingness by making law abiding citizens out to be the enemy. If you can't envision what this may look like feel free to deeply research Russia, or China and the incidents that plague Hong Kong. They are prime examples of what I don't wish to end up as.```

2019-08-16 03:31:04 UTC

```The right to keep and bear arms is an intrinsic permissible right that no man, or legislative body deserves to gun-grab as they sit from an institutional plane of affluence. They have the financial capabilities to protect themselves normally, let alone via "through the hoops" means, yet those who may be considered minorities, or financially inadequate don't? Tell me, where is the equality in that? This goes doubly so considering criminals don't follow conventional rules and regulations.
I, alongside everyone else deserve to have a fighting chance against domestic or foreign threat and that can not be disputed. It's your civic duty to uphold these values. Therefore, if you're going to learn how to make holes, also learn how to close them. Train, seek medical knowledge from "Stop the Bleed" and prepare for the inevitable chaos that permeates our universe. I believe that we as Americans can set aside our differences to ensure everyone is capable of defending their unequivocal Freedom. This is America. Let's start treating one another like brothers or sisters in arms, and mitigate becoming enemies.```
2019-08-16 03:33:56 UTC
Hear hear man,
2019-08-16 03:35:53 UTC
big fax
2019-08-16 03:39:48 UTC
@[DGI]tech there isn't anything there I disagree with man. You've solidly hit the nail on the head.
2019-08-16 03:42:23 UTC
y'all remember when Crowder would always go on about #giftagun? we need to bring that back
2019-08-16 03:42:39 UTC
That would be cool.
2019-08-16 03:43:02 UTC
I'm saving to buy a good friend of mine one
2019-08-16 03:43:38 UTC
I've got a question for you guys. Should I bring up the declining exposure to guns by parents up as my topic for the next call in?
2019-08-16 03:44:26 UTC
it'd be an interesting thing to get Matt's take on, since if any state retains the old gun culture of past generations, Montana does
2019-08-16 03:44:36 UTC
mhmm
2019-08-16 03:44:49 UTC
I've got to find a way to pair it down though.
2019-08-16 03:46:30 UTC
something to the effect of "what are your thoughts on the idea that the decline of hunting has led to the death of America's historic gun culture"?
2019-08-16 03:48:11 UTC
While hunting is part of it, I was more thinking guns in general. My dad never took me hunting, but he did teach me to shoot.
2019-08-16 03:48:57 UTC
or more along the lines of "Do you think suburbia's lack of exposure to guns is the reason most young people tend to react emotionally against the idea of civilian gun ownership"?
2019-08-16 03:49:22 UTC
Because I tend to think from my experience the latter is a pretty open and shut truth
2019-08-16 03:49:30 UTC
yah
2019-08-16 03:50:14 UTC
tbh, hunting is pretty boring
2019-08-16 03:50:35 UTC
I like training alot more, and the cost is more or less comparable
2019-08-16 03:51:00 UTC
Alright.
2019-08-16 03:52:41 UTC
unless you can do it in a helicopter
2019-08-16 03:52:48 UTC
then hunting f---ing rules
2019-08-16 03:52:55 UTC
but I have yet to do that
2019-08-16 03:52:57 UTC
Thanks guys โค
2019-08-16 03:53:58 UTC
I'm strongly in agreeance to the latter, Spader.
2019-08-16 03:55:40 UTC
Speaking of training, I need to pick up some dry fire gear, and correct some of issues plaguing my accuracy.
2019-08-16 03:55:48 UTC
And hit the range some more.
2019-08-16 03:56:23 UTC
honestly you can dry fire centerfire firearms without gear
2019-08-16 03:56:41 UTC
What about "What are you thoughts on the idea that urbanization and the decrease in 2 parent households have increased a lack of exposure of guns to kids contributing to the general ignorance of firearms and the calls for gun control among America's youth?"
2019-08-16 03:56:52 UTC
True. I mainly liked the electronics for giving me advice on what I'm doing.
2019-08-16 03:57:08 UTC
tru
2019-08-16 03:57:39 UTC
I don't use dry fire for marksmanship, more for drawing my ccw and manipulating the gun
2019-08-16 03:58:58 UTC
reloads too
2019-08-16 03:59:34 UTC
Fair. I know there are steps to practice, and hone in my skills, but I also need to invest my time. Reloads being an important one. Correcting errors such as jamming if they arise. That, and overcoming my flinching habit.
2019-08-16 04:00:04 UTC
I think I've narrowed it down to top right.
2019-08-16 04:00:30 UTC
Thanks for the stimulating conversation guys. I've got to get some dinner and then sleep. Take care ya'll.
2019-08-16 04:00:52 UTC
Anytime. It was nice talking with you too Critter.
2019-08-16 04:01:03 UTC
ditto
2019-08-16 04:01:19 UTC
always happy to have an engaging conversation about such things
2019-08-16 04:03:21 UTC
What's your next big purchase Spader?
2019-08-16 04:03:36 UTC
Such as firearms, medical, armor, etc.
2019-08-16 04:03:54 UTC
probably Hesco lvl 4 plate
2019-08-16 04:04:26 UTC
honestly just gonna run it in my backpack since my school has chosen to legally require me to disarm on campus
2019-08-16 04:05:16 UTC
working on a duty AR too, but considering the dems want armor banned I figured I'd snap up at least one good one while I can
2019-08-16 04:07:41 UTC
Aye, same. I just made a solid purchase regarding a small, and full IFAK including a spare tourniquet. My next purchase I'm saving up for is likely a LBT 6094 modular plate carrier, and then LTC Lightweight 4 (if I can get my hands on it) plates or Hesco 4800 IV. I have a few other options but it'll all depend on how impatient I am, and how solid of quality I want.
2019-08-16 04:08:02 UTC
Weight too.
2019-08-16 04:08:06 UTC
Lightweight is a premium.
2019-08-16 04:08:27 UTC
wish I was in the same boat. Like a moron I'm paying my way through college without any loans, so the budget is pretty tight
2019-08-16 04:08:44 UTC
That's not being a moron
2019-08-16 04:08:49 UTC
That's being responsible with your money
2019-08-16 04:09:05 UTC
yeah well if the dems win it is
2019-08-16 04:09:11 UTC
Haha
2019-08-16 04:09:16 UTC
College loan forgiveness?
2019-08-16 04:09:27 UTC
I don't even know if that's gonna pass even with a dem majority
2019-08-16 04:09:32 UTC
could've taken those fed loans and spent all the money on ARs and Armor
2019-08-16 04:09:42 UTC
I can just see that being a massive issue
2019-08-16 04:09:42 UTC
idk it might
2019-08-16 04:09:45 UTC
Also tfw can't buy guns
2019-08-16 04:09:47 UTC
sadlyf
2019-08-16 04:10:33 UTC
but it won't pass congress. Some district judge will just throw a nationwide injuncton, National Review will write about how terrible that is, and we'll all forget 2 months later
2019-08-16 04:11:04 UTC
the vote buying power loan forgiveness represents is gonna be hard to resist
2019-08-16 04:15:54 UTC
2 months later I will still have my Heelix Sleep mattress
2019-08-16 04:16:19 UTC
It's a rest against uncertainty
2019-08-16 04:16:52 UTC
Do you not qualify for FAFSA/Pell Grant?
2019-08-16 04:18:41 UTC
nein
2019-08-16 04:19:07 UTC
assuming that was directed at me
2019-08-16 04:20:46 UTC
Correct.
2019-08-16 04:20:52 UTC
FeelsPepeBad
2019-08-16 04:21:05 UTC
What profession are you shooting for?
2019-08-16 04:21:27 UTC
the militia profession
2019-08-16 04:22:14 UTC
I'm in college, just considering joining law enforcement and even if I do not I want a durable rifle to trust in case SHTF
2019-08-16 04:26:02 UTC
Noice.
