You may be on to something about it being a distraction. But it's a distraction from focusing on who was involved if anything and refocusing us on the injustice.
ok, so now that i have his book. why is the book bad?
The book isn't bad. It is dangerous to the Swamp.
The recommendations would end the largest tax expenditure in the budget.
Again, follow the $$$
so hes detrimental to the swamp?
I want you to know...
I hate all of you right now.
Er, ยฟwhere the fuck is @Shire!?
look bro, saying follow the money doesnt do shit for me
state your case
his appointment is good because the swamp doesnt like him, is that what youre saying?
I am saying that Trump nominated Stephen Parente to be in charge of healthcare policy.
He had written a book on how to fix the system.
ok. so theyre "distracting" from that?
No hearings. No vote. No discussion of his book anywere.
@Mandatory Carry I'm here
do assistant secretaries need to be voted on?
Not by the Republicans and not by the Democrats.
Yes.
or are they appointed?
They usually have committee hearings.
Senate confirmation.
so there was a vote then
Nope. No vote.
then hes not assistant secretary
There is supposed to be a vote.
pick one bro
He was nominated.
ok so hes nominated, but not voted in yet.
There is not going to be a vote.
theres a backlog on confirmations due to dem obstruction
im sure hes in line like everyone else.
LOL. Why don't you actually check instead of guessing.
There is not going to be a vote.
youre the one speculating bro
with your heavy duty tin foil hat
theres a fucking backlog lol
it aint that hard bro
Not for Assistant Secretaries.
no?
No.
is it not one commitee that confirms nominations?
Nope. Each department has a particular committee.
and then it moves to the floor does it not for a senate wide vote?
If it ever gets out of committee, yes. This will not get out of committee. If it were going to, it would have already.
so its currently in committee?
No. It is nowhere.
can you link me where it says he was nominated?
so why are they "distracting" a nomination that happened in 2017?
Our news does not discuss the important things. Like 1/5th of the economy. It just discusses juicy stories about individuals. How many people did Epstein rape? How many people does the healthcare industry rape?
what? you didnt answer my question
I am saying that the news discusses stories like Epstein instead of discussing the important things, like healthcare policy. Everyone knows Epstein's name and history. Who knows about Stephen Parente? Which is actually important to your life?
but why is this event in 2019 a distraction from a nomination that happened in 2017?
brenda destro is the assistant secretary for planning and evaluation btw, so its already been filled
and has been since i guess 2018
All the events the news discusses are distractions from important discussions. There is no "news event" here. There is no dateline. Just a non-event.
What happened to your backlog?
excuse me?
Is Blonde pregnant?
Why is she falling asleep on this stream?
You said there is a backlog. That is why Parente didn't get a vote, right?
i was operating on your assumption that hes nominated and the position hasnt been filled
but clearly your assumption is wrong
but now its my fault? lol bro
What assumption?
that theres a position to fill and that it will be parente
All I said was that he was nominated and didn't get a vote.
because theres no seat for him
He was nominated in 2017.
and?
He didn't get a vote.
ok and there could be many reasons why, declined the nomination, the nomination was rescinded, etc
And you are just going to speculate.
what do you expect me to do? scour the internet for it?
@Shire!
I hate you most of all.
You could watch that 2 hour YouTube video. At least the first 5 minutes of it. But you are too busy digging into the irrelevant life and death of Epstein.
why on earth would i watch that? and i sure as fuck aint digging into anythin epstein right now
No reason whatsoever. 1/5th of the U.S. economy, your healthcare system is not important.
"my" system. is not your system too?
Yes. It is. That is why I watch videos and read books. About the important things.
and the important things is a massive conspiracy to do what exactly?
To control 1/5th of the economy. To maintain the largest tax expenditure in the budget. To maintain 50% of the federal budget being spent on healthcare.
May be 40%. I forget the exact amount.
lol no bro
are you talking about medicare/medicaid?
I am including Medicare and Medicaid, yes.
medicare is 14%, medicaid is 9%
thats also part of the mandatory spending. so thats the 12.4% that is collected from you and your employer in medicare tax
Hmmm. Government taking money from some people and putting it in the pockets of other people. Nope, can't see why the Swamp would care about that.
yes, government taxes (takes money) and pays for services. what a concept.
that will always be the case, unless youre an ancap advocating for no government.
that article you link doesnt show how they get that 47.1% figure btw
I am advocating for the policies described in that book by Phelps and Parente, which would seriously reduce the amount of money we spend on healthcare. Which is why Parente could not become the most important policy person re health in the Trump Administration.
I listened to you, and im not convinced.
Ok.
The problem is trump never released a healthcare policy, which makes his direction unclear. Granted he could have ran on not giving a shit about healthcare, let the senate handle it :p
If Parente's ideas were good, the Republicans would have talked about it. If his ideas were bad, the Democrats would talk about them. But since they are dangerous to the swamp, nobody talks about them.
Not one article on the book written by Trump's nominee to be the head of policy.
