The worst part is that people agree

2018-12-04 13:03:37 UTC

_A lot_ of people

2018-12-04 13:03:40 UTC

AR beats handgun, so you need a rail-gun if you want to stand a chance

2018-12-04 13:03:48 UTC

^^^^

2018-12-04 13:04:26 UTC

Try to intellectually continue that thought and police officers need to carry nukes on the job!

2018-12-04 13:04:39 UTC

Exterminatus

2018-12-04 13:04:43 UTC

The only way to be sure

2018-12-04 13:44:55 UTC

he didn't go in cuz he was about to retire. it's one thing if you're half-way through your policing career and get injured cuz you are set with workers comp., paid leave and insurance, but if you're about to retire, all that goes away and you've only got your incomplete pension to rely on

2018-12-04 17:34:14 UTC

So, when does everyone think tumblr will go out of business?

2018-12-04 17:50:27 UTC

Year or two.

2018-12-04 17:50:56 UTC

Depends as long as you have cash flow you can keep the doors open

2018-12-04 17:54:32 UTC

Lol

2018-12-04 18:16:46 UTC

Joy Behar really lost her shit...didn't she?

2018-12-04 18:18:07 UTC

I totally forgot that was the school security officer's lame excuse.

2018-12-04 19:17:44 UTC

As far as the CRTV/Blaze merger, it doesn't bother me because I don't really know what is on the Blaze. I'm not a huge fan of the name change though, especially since I've heard that it wasn't so much of a merger as much as CRTV buying the Blaze.

2018-12-04 19:24:28 UTC

@wolfman1911 What! is that true? If CRTV bought the blaze why did they change their name?
Also how does tumblr make money? advertisement? I don't use tumble so I don't know?

2018-12-04 19:26:55 UTC

I did hear someone claim that Glenn Beck was previously trying to sell to Daily Wire, so that's what I'm basic it on, but I don't know if it's true.

2018-12-04 19:28:45 UTC

Actually, that makes sense. He was also visiting their offices not to long ago.

2018-12-04 19:29:16 UTC

Of course, the only news source I can find that supports that claim is that beacon of media fairness that is the Daily Beast, so who knows.

2018-12-04 19:30:18 UTC

And it couldn't be more obvious that their one source for their claims is a disgruntled alleged former Blaze employee.

2018-12-04 19:30:57 UTC

Eh, sound reasonable. its not like any of that info paints anybody in a negative light. Its just info you probably don't want out there for business reasons.

2018-12-04 19:31:43 UTC

Why call it โ€˜the blazeโ€™? That sounds like a name a leftist would use.

2018-12-04 19:32:26 UTC

The merger would have been a good chance to change both names.

2018-12-04 19:32:35 UTC

Yeah

2018-12-04 21:00:47 UTC

Pot smoking degenerates! xP

2018-12-04 21:02:05 UTC

Lol

2018-12-04 21:21:23 UTC

Whoa you actually get 30% of the collected tax if you report thots?

2018-12-04 21:21:32 UTC

This changes everything....

2018-12-04 21:29:16 UTC

Imagine making a YouTube channel for the sole purpose of reporting thots

2018-12-04 21:29:30 UTC

And just.... reporting to the public on your success rate

2018-12-04 21:38:48 UTC

๐Ÿ˜‚

2018-12-04 21:40:45 UTC

"Yo yo yo what is up guys, this is your boy Chief of the Thot Patrol, Cops N' Dindus, reporting.. yet.. another victory on the war on thots.."

2018-12-04 21:54:03 UTC

Cringey, but would be effective

2018-12-04 22:08:37 UTC

Thank you ๐Ÿ™‚

2018-12-04 22:13:25 UTC

Something tells me that pot was about the furthest thing from Glenn Beck's mind when he decided to name his meda company 'the blaze.'

@Brendan https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=4ThHbGju1Cc

Itโ€™s a cover of Beethoven, but I think itโ€™s awesome.

2018-12-04 22:24:13 UTC

Pretty awesome, although wasn't a fan of the dance beat at 3:16

2018-12-04 22:25:22 UTC

@Brendan it was disco!! The genre of my guilty pleasure. I think disco is hilariously entertaining

2018-12-04 22:27:56 UTC

I started out with prog though, here's a great example of the music that made me become a musician https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CsvlZacyByQ

2018-12-04 22:29:24 UTC

@Brendan Iโ€™ll give it a listen later and let you know what I think.

2018-12-04 23:37:54 UTC

What I want to happen the day or the week before election day

2018-12-04 23:38:02 UTC

- tumblr dies

2018-12-04 23:38:09 UTC

- vox dies

2018-12-04 23:38:17 UTC

- the final brick in the wall is laid

2018-12-04 23:38:59 UTC

2018-12-05 01:27:14 UTC

Yes!

2018-12-05 09:14:57 UTC

@Chump_or_Champ I don't remember the officer ever making that point, I think it was a talking point generated by the media.

2018-12-05 15:39:02 UTC

Let me try painting a picture for anyone who cares,
Lets say you have a rich and a poor child, is either of these children biologically prone to care more about money then the other?
If you spoil either one of these kids, what are you likely to get? A brat, if you teach them how to be strong and put effort into what they do, what are you likely to get? A brat? Is this how are biology works? Do we have no control over these thing and how they manifest? If all that mattered here was the starting point of our biology, people would have no way of changing.

So, can a rich kid be a good person? If taught to be one, yes. Can a poor child be a brat? Yes, if taught to be one.
So what is happening now? Well, are biology tells us WE ALL need to be strong to thrive in our world. But how are we teaching people? We spoil half of our children, and teach the other half to be strong, (none of these examples are absolute, Please try not to bring up "Well I").

2018-12-05 15:41:51 UTC

>children are blank slates

2018-12-05 15:42:23 UTC

If that's what you got from that... Wonderful.

2018-12-05 15:43:03 UTC

I think the point is that you can still teach your kid the "right" things and end up with a brat

2018-12-05 15:43:15 UTC

Or someone unsuccessful

2018-12-05 15:43:26 UTC

Because genetics do play a part in those outcomes

2018-12-05 15:43:48 UTC

Its a good thing i said the examples i used were not absolutes then :)

2018-12-05 15:44:39 UTC

They're not even necessarily generally applicable to the extent you're using them

2018-12-05 15:45:19 UTC

The answer to some of your questions about biology, which act in the rhetorical negative, is actually yes

2018-12-05 15:47:31 UTC

You can't conflate that with very instinctual and innate reactions

2018-12-05 15:47:42 UTC

Those are completely different things

2018-12-05 15:48:18 UTC

?

2018-12-05 15:48:39 UTC

@Beemann I meant Shadows

2018-12-05 15:48:43 UTC

Ah

2018-12-05 15:50:38 UTC

I don't think the example you are giving is necessarily the best one. I do believe that people are prepositioned to care more about possessions (like money) than others. That doesn't necessarily have to do with what societal class they are brought up in.
One thing is definitely true though: Children are no blank slates! Anybody who has children will tell you that!

2018-12-05 15:51:13 UTC

Can you teach 100% of humans to not kill? No. Does biology play a role in this? Yes. Can you teach most humans not to kill? Well, i think we are doing a fairly good job teaching from when humans could kill people for almost any reason.

2018-12-05 15:51:48 UTC

Heh Its a good thing at no point did i say children were blank slates then.

2018-12-05 15:52:27 UTC

I was referring to @Deleted User comment about children being blank slates.

2018-12-05 15:52:43 UTC

Not even talking about instinct

2018-12-05 15:52:51 UTC

The rest of what I wrote was directed at @Shadows

2018-12-05 15:52:58 UTC

Some people are genetically predisposed to certain types of behaviour

2018-12-05 15:53:17 UTC

They are more likely to be found doing/being X than others based on their genetic background

2018-12-05 15:53:52 UTC

My children were definitely the opposite of blank slates. I love seeing how early children begin to show their personalities

2018-12-05 15:54:15 UTC

I am confused now though. How are we now talking about moral frameworks like "thou shall not kill" when this is still about where emotions come from.

2018-12-05 15:54:52 UTC

That's my point, they are completely different concepts

2018-12-05 15:56:16 UTC

@Euro looking for a green card Do you not think emotions play a part on if someone is likely to kill anyone?

2018-12-05 15:56:37 UTC

Sure

2018-12-05 15:57:06 UTC

I wasn't talking about it being morally right or wrong, just an example of how we are living.

2018-12-05 15:57:39 UTC

How do you teach a person not to kill without bringing morals into it?

2018-12-05 16:07:11 UTC

I could maybe make the case for one, but.... i won't. I will just agree with you and now make the claim about my above post also being a moral one. As i think its morally awful to spoil kids (excessively) making them brats. Then become the females we cuddled so much they become emotional wrecks (again, not an absolute but also when males are treated this way).

2018-12-05 16:08:40 UTC

I'm watching the funeral of George Bush Sr. right now. Whenever Jeb appears on the camera all I can think of is that "please clap" moment.

2018-12-05 16:13:42 UTC

I loved Jeb

2018-12-05 16:13:57 UTC

I wish he would have won the presidency

2018-12-05 16:15:22 UTC

I have no feeling about how he would have governed because I never lived under him when he was governor.
I don't think he could have won in the environment that was.

2018-12-05 16:16:04 UTC

You needed a Republican that was going to hit the left hard and not bow to the usual accusations

2018-12-05 16:17:23 UTC

@Shadows I agree with spoiling kids being morally awful (you may have to define where spoiling begins) but my question is how did we move from the conversation of emotions being driven manly by nature vs nurture to the question of morality.
I am not disagreeing with you I am just having trouble finding the link.

2018-12-05 16:18:27 UTC

@Shadows Also, to chime in on the previous conversation. People are some part biological some part social. For the part that's social, there is good evidence a sizable portion of society (in the western world) are doing a bad job (see Johnathan Haidt's work). Johnthan Haidt's work notes that boys suicides rates are up, but girls's is up even more. I suspect this is related to the point you are making, but only part of the bigger picture.

2018-12-05 16:19:21 UTC

Indeed grant

2018-12-05 16:20:12 UTC

It's insane that Hillary will have to sit beside Trump the rest of her life

2018-12-05 16:20:32 UTC

or his

2018-12-05 16:23:13 UTC

True

2018-12-05 16:25:09 UTC

@Euro looking for a green card I'm wasn't making a direct link (tho i maybe could), merely saying how are biology plays out. Its in our biology to kill (as we need to eat to survive, and i hope a vegan reads this!). And our biology gives us emotions, that can be fostered in good or bad ways.

2018-12-05 16:27:34 UTC

I'm just glad to see a state event with some good religion

2018-12-05 16:28:48 UTC

who were the girls that spoke? they are attractive

2018-12-05 16:29:58 UTC

@Shadows I get the feeling that we are mostly agreeing and just talking past each other ๐Ÿค”

2018-12-05 16:30:52 UTC

Most likely.
