2019-07-15 09:47:05 UTC

and even the NOPE

2019-07-15 10:10:24 UTC

i've never seen anything about star citizen till now

2019-07-15 10:10:31 UTC

this is what everyone is excited about? ๐Ÿ˜‚

2019-07-15 10:11:04 UTC

28000 for every ship

2019-07-15 10:19:02 UTC

its being treated like crowdfunding pledges
you pledge x amount you get this ship, you can earn ships in game, but every 3 months or so a new update comes out, which resets your inv as if you had just started an account after buying a ship. Eventually when it is released they said they will stop wiping inventories at each update and you wont be able to pay to buy ships any more

2019-07-15 10:19:35 UTC

$28000 for pixel ships

2019-07-15 10:19:50 UTC

you could buy a new car for that

2019-07-15 10:19:59 UTC

elite dangerous is similar iirc

2019-07-15 10:20:10 UTC

yeah i wouldn spend that much, especially on a game in alpha

2019-07-15 10:20:47 UTC

star citizen just sounds like a scam tbh ๐Ÿ˜‚

2019-07-15 10:20:48 UTC

i guess it could be viable for huge clans or factions or whatever who could have thousands of players to spend that much on capital ships and stuff

2019-07-15 10:21:08 UTC

because a single person cant really run a ship designed for dozens

2019-07-15 10:21:19 UTC

and pushed back since 2014

2019-07-15 10:22:02 UTC

yeah people kept giving them money so they kept promising to add more features which takes more time

2019-07-15 10:22:22 UTC

eventually they gave up on adding new stretch goals at $65 million IIRC, its at 250ish million rn

2019-07-15 10:22:29 UTC

what's taking time is all that cocaine they gotta snort

2019-07-15 10:22:30 UTC

they have so much

2019-07-15 10:23:24 UTC

crowd funding games are awful because of loose budgets

2019-07-15 10:24:00 UTC

no one can manage a project with constant increase of budget and no way of knowing when it's going to stop

2019-07-15 10:24:01 UTC

probably half of the dev time was just trying to get a singleplayer game engine to run an MMO lol

2019-07-15 10:25:22 UTC

and general expansion, they went from 13ish people to 500+

2019-07-15 10:25:32 UTC

if you want to crowd fund a game make a clear cut off where the money stops

2019-07-15 10:25:34 UTC

which is still tiny for a AAA game studio, and even more so for what they are promising

2019-07-15 10:25:53 UTC

and then run it with a solid and constant budget

2019-07-15 10:26:07 UTC

or else it becomes clownish

2019-07-15 10:26:14 UTC

and the project falls in on itself

2019-07-15 10:26:33 UTC

and that's if you even get funded in the first place

2019-07-15 10:27:10 UTC

they are gonna use profits from a singleplayer campaign game they are developing rn to fund the main multiplayer game

2019-07-15 10:27:23 UTC

although im not sure that will be enough

2019-07-15 12:35:23 UTC

>scam

2019-07-15 12:35:40 UTC

Meanwhile, they employ a full workforce

2019-07-15 12:36:09 UTC

And have developed a large amount of content as it is

2019-07-15 12:36:34 UTC

And also

2019-07-15 12:36:39 UTC

Realistically speaking

2019-07-15 12:36:58 UTC

After getting so much *unexpected* crowdfunding

2019-07-15 12:37:15 UTC

They basically had to reimagine the entire scope of the game and start from scratch

2019-07-15 12:37:44 UTC

And uh

2019-07-15 12:38:22 UTC

6 years for developing a big project in *traditional* workforces is not unheard of either

2019-07-15 12:58:04 UTC

>$28000 for pixel ships in a game that was slated to be released 5 years ago and still hasnโ€™t been

2019-07-15 12:58:18 UTC

>not a scam

2019-07-15 13:01:06 UTC

I mean overgrowth was in dev for like 10 years

2019-07-15 13:01:12 UTC

and that got realsed

2019-07-15 13:03:15 UTC

Clearly you've never played EVE

2019-07-15 13:04:04 UTC

And that game is still going strong 16 years after release

2019-07-15 13:07:01 UTC

Eve is one of those game it's full of boomer and it's a litreal spreadsheet simulator

2019-07-15 13:07:28 UTC

EVE is the best example of a player-driven economy

2019-07-15 13:07:35 UTC

I like the Economic in the game and I'll be honest I wish Elite has just 40% of that game economy

2019-07-15 13:07:36 UTC

And one that works quite well

2019-07-15 13:08:07 UTC

The only big problem with EVE is that it's really hard to get into by urself

2019-07-15 13:08:23 UTC

I like Elite for being a bit more casual in term I don't have to care that much. Eve sometimes can get a bit too much I can't tell you the amount of time I was soo paranoid whenever I jump though the gate in that game

2019-07-15 13:08:43 UTC

True I got into that game because there was someone to help me. If you new player you are completely screw.

2019-07-15 13:09:10 UTC

Luckily, I dont forsee SC having the same problems

2019-07-15 13:10:23 UTC

think about it Elite Dangerous and SC Have Crowdfunding at the same period of time but Elite is out True that not all content promise is there on releaase but at least the game is out and it's a decent game.

2019-07-15 13:10:41 UTC

Meh

2019-07-15 13:10:50 UTC

Elite didnt really appeal to me

2019-07-15 13:10:54 UTC

Low on content

2019-07-15 13:11:05 UTC

I do get a bit piss off the facts teh elite is taking 1 years content breaks.

2019-07-15 13:11:34 UTC

Not very engaging either

2019-07-15 13:11:50 UTC

Hopfully the december update could be promising but I have to be frank the latest "New content" is just trash.

2019-07-15 13:12:07 UTC

The thing you gotta understand is that SC development effectively restarted itself in 2014

2019-07-15 13:12:18 UTC

And went on to aim for a much larger scope

2019-07-15 13:12:19 UTC

I mean Advanced Multi Cannon is just copy and paste Multicannon with AX Synthesis.

2019-07-15 13:14:33 UTC

I want Star Citizen to be good but at this point last time I play I was playing a very nice looking asset flip

2019-07-15 13:16:29 UTC

A lot of Bug It's as smooth and optimized as Microsoft Powerpoint Slide.

2019-07-15 13:18:16 UTC

And fucking hell the player model look like something stright out of Chernobyl

2019-07-15 13:19:13 UTC

2019-07-15 13:19:31 UTC

did thet have arms without hands so they need fucking robot arms with them?

2019-07-15 13:20:07 UTC

Look at the neck LOL

2019-07-15 13:20:48 UTC

220M $ My friends

2019-07-15 13:21:28 UTC

That's not the player model

2019-07-15 13:21:48 UTC

That's som1 swapping a different model for each part of the body

2019-07-15 13:22:04 UTC

Helmet looks like the outlaw helmet

2019-07-15 13:22:10 UTC

Arms look like heavy marine

2019-07-15 13:22:15 UTC

Not sure what the chest is

2019-07-15 13:22:25 UTC

And legs are medium marine

2019-07-15 13:23:21 UTC

2019-07-15 13:24:30 UTC

TBH I know it's Alpha But I take technical test close Alpha for The Division 2 Made by Ubisoft and I encounter less bug than Me spending good 4 hours on Star Citizen.

2019-07-15 13:26:10 UTC

What

2019-07-15 13:26:18 UTC

That is *not* from the current build

2019-07-15 13:26:47 UTC

Are you literally pulling this from an anti-SC repository?

2019-07-15 13:27:18 UTC

maybe he's got an older version

2019-07-15 13:27:22 UTC

He cant

2019-07-15 13:27:27 UTC

That's the MP

2019-07-15 13:28:00 UTC

then he's in contact with someone or a forum and doesn't actually play the game

2019-07-15 13:28:11 UTC

That's what I'm saying

2019-07-15 13:28:22 UTC

Those were screenshot when SC allow player to try the game for free.

2019-07-15 13:28:33 UTC

You mean like a year ago?

2019-07-15 13:28:48 UTC

They had multiple free play weekends

2019-07-15 13:28:58 UTC

Could be two years ago

2019-07-15 13:29:05 UTC

Pretty sure it's this year.

2019-07-15 13:29:08 UTC

Nope

2019-07-15 13:29:11 UTC

Can guarantee

2019-07-15 13:29:24 UTC

That is not from recent release builds

2019-07-15 13:29:41 UTC

Could be a PTU build

2019-07-15 13:29:48 UTC

Which is the bug-testing branch

2019-07-15 13:31:17 UTC

SC been crowdfunding for 6 Years.

2019-07-15 13:31:24 UTC

And it's still getting money to this day.

2019-07-15 13:37:22 UTC

I mean 6 years and it's still look like this. Also not to mention on of the ship cost 475$ for a Ship Yes 475$ In order for you to test a ship.

https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/598763932194177024/600319994827374609/1qgdeud8m3421.png

2019-07-15 13:38:18 UTC

You would think they would allow people to test out all the ship in order to for them to find out bug that the ship might have.
