Compare that to the average wall street income, it's litterally nothing.

>international finance and selling meaningless pieces of paper

2017-09-25 01:04:17 UTC

2017-09-25 01:04:18 UTC

The point of agriculture is to feed and prepare ourselves for whatever may come, and to be self sustaining. It just isn't enough to provide all income too.

2017-09-25 01:04:27 UTC

@Willy welcome

2017-09-25 01:06:10 UTC

People are free to have any occupation they choose, as long as they are contributing meaningfully to the community.

2017-09-25 01:06:19 UTC

@Rin it depends on the local market. In my experience people will drive 2 hours one way to try to sell at my cities farmer's market. It may not be a great source of income, but it's better than nothing.

2017-09-25 01:07:56 UTC

But the alternative isn't "nothing" kek..... It's other more lucrative jobs....

2017-09-25 01:08:22 UTC

apiculture is also a good starter for farm/field driven people

2017-09-25 01:08:56 UTC

We aren't fucking luddites.

2017-09-25 01:09:01 UTC

Or Amish.

2017-09-25 01:12:13 UTC

it's illegal to seccede from the USA

2017-09-25 01:12:14 UTC

so no country

2017-09-25 01:12:15 UTC

lmao

2017-09-25 01:12:18 UTC

@Rin more than likely will be living far from any large city like portland or seattle. Land is too expensive buy near them. What kind of job are you gonna have that lets you take two weeks of in the spring to plant, two weeks in the fall to harvest and plenty of time inbetween watering and weeding. Either you live with us and work a 40hr/week in an office or you have a part time job that lets you take time off to work your fields.

2017-09-25 01:12:21 UTC

Right.

2017-09-25 01:12:21 UTC

a community is fine

2017-09-25 01:12:38 UTC

an ethno-community is fine

2017-09-25 01:12:47 UTC

As long as you don't make it a business thing

2017-09-25 01:14:27 UTC

Why do you personally have to take care of all farm tasks? What is your family doing this whole time? What if you want to create infrastructure, or build things for a living? It's retarded to say that every member of the community must generate all his income through farming. It's just not even realistic, for several reasons.

2017-09-25 01:15:06 UTC

>building a house with corn

2017-09-25 01:15:17 UTC

2017-09-25 01:15:46 UTC

Can have a cellery front door.

2017-09-25 01:16:01 UTC

i'll have a radish oven

2017-09-25 01:16:11 UTC

Tomato doormat.

2017-09-25 01:17:58 UTC

@Rin what i'm saying is that most of the people on this server either work min wage jobs or are neets. The few people who don't, work in IT and we won't have internet when this is first started. If you wanna commute an hour a day to a city go ahead. Just don't complain about a nigger mugging you on your walk to your car.

2017-09-25 01:18:25 UTC

you can work from home

2017-09-25 01:18:33 UTC

My parents live off grid

2017-09-25 01:18:37 UTC

and they own a business

2017-09-25 01:18:46 UTC

think outside the box

2017-09-25 01:18:51 UTC

"work from home for 5k a day"

2017-09-25 01:18:54 UTC

no

2017-09-25 01:19:00 UTC

One of the goals here, it to bring people out of NEET status. And there's lots of ways to make a living without a commute.

2017-09-25 01:19:12 UTC

NEET?

2017-09-25 01:19:19 UTC

Address the problem not the symptom.

2017-09-25 01:19:37 UTC

What is NEET?

2017-09-25 01:19:55 UTC

not employed, educated or trained

2017-09-25 01:20:02 UTC

Ahh

2017-09-25 01:20:06 UTC

n.e.e.t.

2017-09-25 01:20:17 UTC

NOrthern European Estates and Territories

2017-09-25 01:20:22 UTC

the name of my empire later in life

2017-09-25 01:20:24 UTC

Right that to

2017-09-25 01:20:25 UTC

The NEET

2017-09-25 01:20:32 UTC

Stuff like woodworking is do able without internet, IT work isn't one of those jobs.

2017-09-25 01:20:39 UTC

^

2017-09-25 01:20:41 UTC

The NEET. So kinda like The urkaine

2017-09-25 01:20:42 UTC

Also, as an aside, all those "exotic" crops you mentioned, are generally "exotic" for a reason, they generally require special environments to grow.

2017-09-25 01:20:48 UTC

What is IT work

2017-09-25 01:20:55 UTC

Internet?

2017-09-25 01:20:56 UTC

i feel like people should be pulled away from the internet and its constant simulation

2017-09-25 01:20:58 UTC

kk

2017-09-25 01:21:07 UTC

Just ditch the phone dude

2017-09-25 01:21:25 UTC

Also, if you own land

2017-09-25 01:21:29 UTC

live off your own food

2017-09-25 01:21:31 UTC

have your own shelter

2017-09-25 01:21:34 UTC

you technically don't need money

2017-09-25 01:21:35 UTC

or a job

2017-09-25 01:21:41 UTC

other than taxes

2017-09-25 01:21:56 UTC

You will still need money. Mostly for healthcare.

2017-09-25 01:22:09 UTC

true

2017-09-25 01:22:14 UTC

Specialty procedures, things that local doctors can't do.

2017-09-25 01:22:17 UTC

have a doctor live with you

2017-09-25 01:23:40 UTC

But additionally there will be tons of creature comforts you will need money for, for example, I highly doubt we will be producing playstations, or TVs, or blenders, or refrigerators.....

2017-09-25 01:23:54 UTC

I could go on.

2017-09-25 01:24:03 UTC

solar panels and water wheels for basic electronics

2017-09-25 01:24:04 UTC

>coolers

2017-09-25 01:24:09 UTC

>possibly a/c

2017-09-25 01:24:12 UTC

>lights

2017-09-25 01:24:45 UTC

@Rin those kiwis I posted are native to siberia, so I think we can grow them. the reason most people don't grow those crops is because they aren't the super improved monsanto frankenstiens. you could grow something like this http://www.rareseeds.com/glass-gem-corn-/ and charge an arm and a leg to the city dwelling hipsters.

2017-09-25 01:24:59 UTC

lmao

2017-09-25 01:25:28 UTC

So you think aa commute to the city is out of the question for a job, but you are fine with it to sell fruit?

2017-09-25 01:25:38 UTC

You don't need electricity to make coolers

2017-09-25 01:25:39 UTC

i'd prefer to avoid society

2017-09-25 01:25:49 UTC
2017-09-25 01:25:50 UTC

I've lived for about two years without a refrigerator

2017-09-25 01:26:09 UTC

Once a week is fine. Driving 40 mintutes one way each day isn't.

2017-09-25 01:26:09 UTC

it's possible to control temperature inside a given envinronment

2017-09-25 01:26:17 UTC

thick walls

2017-09-25 01:26:30 UTC

i'll have just like a log cabin n shit

2017-09-25 01:26:38 UTC

not too much in terms of walls lol

2017-09-25 01:26:41 UTC

So?

2017-09-25 01:26:47 UTC

Dig a hole

2017-09-25 01:26:58 UTC

Add a step ladder into it

2017-09-25 01:27:06 UTC

Board up the walls so it's not all dirt

2017-09-25 01:27:12 UTC

and you have a cold box, if you do it well

2017-09-25 01:27:30 UTC

You could fill it with snow during winter and you have a natural freezer for a good few months

2017-09-25 01:27:44 UTC

also salting food is a good way to preserve food

2017-09-25 01:27:50 UTC

40 mins one way each day is not even that bad...

2017-09-25 01:27:56 UTC

You can make a greenhouse with pvc and greenhouse plastic.

2017-09-25 01:28:06 UTC

Even in CA I know people who have worse than that.

2017-09-25 01:28:22 UTC

right

2017-09-25 01:28:32 UTC

People depend on electricity way too much today

2017-09-25 01:28:59 UTC

It's all about relearning

2017-09-25 01:30:17 UTC

@Rin I'm aware, I have a 30 minute one way right now. I'd rather be doing something useful than be stuck in the car. Youre in CA so you don't have to deal with snow. that stuff fucks up commuting bad.

2017-09-25 01:30:21 UTC

Dude, Spics and Nogs hate each other more than.. Pretty much anything
