I think you're overestimating the amount of influence women have in Islamic society. In western society women influence men because men are trying to get laid and believe that trying to impress women will help. Impressing Muslim women doesn't help Muslim men get laid though, as there can be no sex before marriage and the marriage is arranged by the woman's family.

I think it was in iran where women make up the majority in university in stem fields - they dont tend to do that in order to work in the field but rather to be able to negotiate a more advantagous marriage contract
