REM cycles, without them you would lose your mind within 1 week

My sanity has been severely challenged lately

It is not so much the bodily disfunction that occurs without sleep but the mind itself

This is why if you stay up for 3 days in a row on amphetamines the mind begins to hallucinate

I had a couple of occasions to drive a truck 36 hours straight, it becomes very challenging as the hours roll on

And surprisingly you can't fall immediately to sleep when you're done you have to wind down
