2019-03-05 20:55:13 UTC

Damn

2019-03-05 20:55:30 UTC

and of course people would drive the bids down as much as they could

2019-03-05 20:56:04 UTC

so unless you already have like really good equipment and training and such it wasn't hard to basically just get fucked but i got some good shit on there before with like Wachovia before they lol went bankrupt

2019-03-05 20:56:21 UTC

setting up hardware in rackmounts and running cables

2019-03-05 20:57:16 UTC

Yeah I need to learn a lot more with server computers mostly, also running programs on servers

2019-03-05 20:57:25 UTC

But as I had stated with hardware I am golden

2019-03-05 20:57:38 UTC

I know almost every modern cpu on the market

2019-03-05 20:57:59 UTC

but do you know how to unstick a stuck platter on a spinny disk harddrive

2019-03-05 20:58:19 UTC

I don't do harddrive repair

2019-03-05 20:58:37 UTC

i once literally got paid $50 to show up at a person's house and just give their hard-drive a wack

2019-03-05 20:58:46 UTC

Lol

2019-03-05 20:58:50 UTC

it blew their fucking mind

2019-03-05 20:59:01 UTC

That's hilarious

2019-03-05 20:59:42 UTC

yea but then there'd be times where i'd show up for some shit that should be easy and it turns out it was some super insane shit that was absolutely ridiculous and took like 5 hours of work that i couldn't really charge more than 2 hours for

2019-03-05 21:00:07 UTC

Eh

2019-03-05 21:01:56 UTC

there were some contracts i'd get where i'd have to read like a 100 page manual before going in the next day lol

2019-03-05 21:02:12 UTC

but that's all contractor-related shit which i'm guessing you're not thinking aboutg etting into

2019-03-05 21:02:38 UTC

Well I mainly do troubleshooting with peoples hardware besides drives. So lets say no video is displaying or their system isn't powering on I give them steps to tell them what might be wrong and what they have to do get said system to display said picture, most of the time it is the wrong ram speed for the system or it is just bad ram

2019-03-05 21:03:20 UTC

yea one of my friends is currently having an issue with his monitor turning black once in a while and he has to put the computer in hibernate and back out for it to come back on

2019-03-05 21:03:52 UTC

Sound like a driver issue or maybe not enough power

2019-03-05 21:03:58 UTC

Mainly software I presume

2019-03-05 21:04:25 UTC

yea he's going to swap out PSU and see if it keeps happening

2019-03-05 21:04:31 UTC

But it could be power spikes

2019-03-05 21:04:34 UTC

Yeah

2019-03-05 21:04:40 UTC

need to get the GPUZ running or someswatch

2019-03-05 21:05:23 UTC

Most of the time the powersupply isn't bad it is just getting way to much heat from the system

2019-03-05 21:05:29 UTC

But it could be going bad

2019-03-05 21:06:03 UTC

I had this problem where my gpu would only shutoff not my system just the gpu, and it was mainly because of a stupid dust cover stopping air flow coming in

2019-03-05 21:06:07 UTC

i would hope it's not overheating he's got like fucking 6 fans running in that thing lol

2019-03-05 21:06:25 UTC

but he IS in a super dusty house so probably a good idea to check that too

2019-03-05 21:06:26 UTC

No I mean the PSU overheating

2019-03-05 21:06:46 UTC

Because if air is being sucked from the inside that is most likely the problem

2019-03-05 21:06:56 UTC

yea

2019-03-05 21:07:02 UTC

Lemme get a picture to describe better

2019-03-05 21:07:58 UTC

i had a client who kept having PSUs die on him turned out he had fucked up electrical problems in hishome

2019-03-05 21:09:22 UTC

https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/550285107404210176/552598557195108373/unknown.png

2019-03-05 21:09:35 UTC

It is better to have it like that

2019-03-05 21:09:36 UTC

damn yea i think his PSU is at the bottom

2019-03-05 21:09:55 UTC

If the fan is in the system hot air will blow into the PSU

2019-03-05 21:10:00 UTC

And that isn't good

2019-03-05 21:10:37 UTC

https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/550285107404210176/552598871881023509/unknown.png

2019-03-05 21:10:54 UTC

I would highly advise not doing this

2019-03-05 21:11:08 UTC

yea i will bring that up to him later when he's off work thanks

2019-03-05 21:11:18 UTC

Yeah np!

2019-03-05 21:11:42 UTC

If that isn't the case I recommend getting rid of the dust cover under the psu

2019-03-05 21:11:45 UTC

easy to explain that to someone like me who has some knowledge of the subject already now try doing that as an actual job with people who are clueless lol

2019-03-05 21:11:58 UTC

lol

2019-03-05 21:12:34 UTC

people get frustrated as fuck real quick too if you're having to do like process of elimination

2019-03-05 21:12:52 UTC

Yeah I have seen that

2019-03-05 22:27:26 UTC

2019-03-06 01:19:42 UTC

Old hardware is so impressive to me I sware!

2019-03-06 01:20:40 UTC

Like I had gotten a lenovo y710 with an i5-7200u and a gtx 920mx for 900 dollars new, but you can find a fatter looking laptop but more beafy specs AND YOU CAN UPGRADE THE PARTS TO THE FAT BITCH!

2019-03-06 01:21:05 UTC

https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/550285107404210176/552661903462105088/lenovo-laptop-yoga-710-15-hero.png

2019-03-06 01:21:10 UTC

This is the yoga

2019-03-06 01:22:23 UTC

And the other is a dell Prescision with an i7 and quadro k1000m graphics the cpu is 20% faster and gpu is 7% and it only goes for 230usd used and 400usd new. As stated yes you can swap out the parts I mean GPU and CPU!

2019-03-06 01:22:53 UTC

Only problem is it is beafy

2019-03-06 01:22:54 UTC

https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/550285107404210176/552662360532189185/M4700.png

2019-03-06 01:24:00 UTC

But it has a BUNCH of ports and a disk drive

2019-03-06 01:29:55 UTC

You can find models with k1100m and k2000m graphics and higher

2019-03-06 01:30:14 UTC

But you can upgrade to a GPU that has the same speed as a gtx 1050 for 150 dollars

2019-03-06 01:31:14 UTC

That GPU is the K5000m or K5100m

2019-03-06 01:31:37 UTC

But do note this is already cheaper than a normal desktop with the same specs

2019-03-06 01:31:56 UTC

As this comes with a display keep that in mind

2019-03-06 01:34:51 UTC
2019-03-06 01:37:19 UTC

Also the display in most of these models are full 1080p!

2019-03-06 04:03:16 UTC

Here is the DELL Precision used but in near perfect condition

2019-03-06 07:24:37 UTC

Forgot to mention the computer has NFC

2019-03-06 16:45:51 UTC

@gauravtee What if you build the system while in the U.S. and then take it back with you fully assembled?

2019-03-06 17:18:16 UTC

I'll be taxed at the airport for having 2 computers. Because I'll obviously have my laptop with me

2019-03-06 17:18:48 UTC

I could do more research into this but yeah I'm about right

2019-03-06 18:05:31 UTC

@Deleted User Ever worked with a Pentium Overdrive chip?

2019-03-06 18:06:32 UTC

@gauravtee Been a few decades since I've travelled internationally, and never as an adult. Does Customs really want to know about every last piece of luggage you bring back with you?

2019-03-06 18:10:55 UTC

"a few decades" the fuck how old are you?

2019-03-06 18:11:15 UTC

and yes. Absolutely.

2019-03-06 18:13:45 UTC

@gauravtee Hint: I was 13 when I saw Bon Jovi opening for Ratt in the summer of 1985. Ratt was the better, though ultimately less commercially successful, band.

https://youtu.be/n1sFCszjBoc

2019-03-06 18:15:10 UTC

that's not a hint nigga you literally gave me the year

2019-03-06 18:15:16 UTC

all you're making me do is some arithmetic

2019-03-06 18:15:58 UTC

I'm offended. Don't call me nigga, call me jigaboo instead.

2019-03-06 18:18:02 UTC

@gauravtee It was a mere hint for those who don't have a superpower-by-2020 superintellect.

2019-03-06 18:19:06 UTC

so you're 47 years old??????????

2019-03-06 18:19:54 UTC

@gauravtee Yeah, as of late last year.

2019-03-06 18:20:10 UTC

i'm in disbelief

2019-03-06 21:26:27 UTC

@Deadly_Ramon No I have not worked with a Pentium overdrive chip.

2019-03-06 21:26:40 UTC

I have messed around with pentium 2s and 4s

2019-03-06 22:13:44 UTC

@Deleted User The Pentium Overdrive predates those. It was an upgrade for motherboards with 486 and first generation Pentium sockets, though the benefit was reduced for 486 computers because of their lower data bus sizes.

GG @Deadly_Ramon, you just advanced to level 3! View the leaderboard by typing !levels in any channel.

2019-03-06 22:14:08 UTC

Huh that's pretty interesting

2019-03-06 22:14:23 UTC

What I do find interesting about them is that they have a cooler built in

2019-03-06 22:15:39 UTC

When you say you're into old computer hardware, and I see you linking to specs with 4 digit i7 and i5 sockets, then I gather that you're significantly younger to consider chips from earlier this decade old <:haha:550081069744128000>

2019-03-06 22:17:10 UTC

I haven't really looked into older hardware as in like stuff before 2000 but above I know a good portion. The only reason why is because computers now are smaller and are faster to those dated then

2019-03-06 22:17:20 UTC

Nice cpu

2019-03-06 22:17:28 UTC

I love the lga 1367 socket

2019-03-06 22:17:38 UTC

And 1366

2019-03-06 22:18:02 UTC

They still hold up amazingly in multicore

2019-03-06 22:18:05 UTC

Now I'm running an i7 7700 at 3.60 GHz.

2019-03-06 22:18:06 UTC

Single core less so

2019-03-06 22:18:12 UTC

Ah cool!
