interestingly enough, that helmet was used by German Border guards, at the berlin wall. on top of this, they were severely punished in the wake of doing something wrong , If you were religious, that was a big problem and meant yo might not get the job, with the higher likelihood of you being companionate, and letting people through, OR helping people escape. They were usually in groups of three so that if one ran to cross into west Berlin the other two could shoot them
