If I have extra money I buy supps that improve mental and physical performance
Yeah, it's sad because I will be lazy some days and just sit and binge red pill/mgtow content while I play a strategy game but otherwise I only use my computer for programming/banking/writing. My friend's girlfriends/wives will demand they watch 2-3 HOURS of FRIENDS or another blue pill sitcom with them every fucking night. "WE NEVER SEE EACH OTHER." Lady, you don't care when you do see each other because you rather watch shitty TV.
I also buy a lot of books, a video game here and there, food
Actually, what's taking a lot out of my savings is MMA classes...$140 per month. I don't go anymore, so I need to cancel it
Yeah, so technically I do buy books so I guess that breaks my rule about entertainment but I find education entertaining so ๐ I have $15 a month to spend on books. I tend to borrow books more but I have bought all the books Jordan Peterson recommends and I am almost done with HHH's reading list.
Shit dude.
Fuck that, I'd rather be alone than spend time watching small minded shit on TV or talking about celebrities/other stuff that doesn't matter
I've thought about MMA but for real, that price tag turned me off it. Same with shooting guns. I own a Glock 19 Gen 4. I don't need a long rifle/shotgun so I just stick to personal protection/CPL and maintain my skill 4 times a year or more. I bought 1k 9mm rounds online from luckygunner for practice ammo. I have 4 clips full of hollow point, as well.
I like talking to people, it's just the same shit over and over
I will get my 6 pack back, then go to an MMA for a year or two, but after I get the basics down, I will cancel and just spar people for free or cheap to keep the skills.
Do you think after you gain the main skillset, like in shooting/lifting, maintenance is all you need?
I'm no better than the average person, but I just can't connect with the right people face to face due to the environments i put myself in
Obviously the more you do it, the better you are, but if I am a yoked son of a bitch who can shoot and do some BJJ/Boxing... I should be good lol.
Maintenance is enough if you think you know enough to be able to win most fights
But keep doing those things if you want to get better
I feel you about speaking to others. I find myself being judgemental easily and not staying open minded. It's hard to give a shit sometimes because I want to hand out advice (not because I know anything but I experienced similar things) and most people just want you to listen and not hand out advice.
It's like a maintained plateau...if you stop, you will get rusty/out of shape
I'm sure there is a "maintenance" fee I could setup with a local gym if I didn't want to go there a ton... probably not. Everyone wants their money haha.
Yeah, I totally get that but at the same time... at a certain level... you don't need to get any better.
Like, unless you're competing and that's your main passion.
As far as talking to people, I just listen to them attentively and patiently until I get a chance to speak
I give them my thoughts, then they take over again
If I can shoot, lift, run/sprint, box, BJJ and have survival skills... I just need to maintain those considering I work behind a keyboard for my job lol.
You'll be good with all that
Yeah, I've changed my conversation habits. I try to ask questions to steer the conversation.
I've done martial arts for around 3 years and now I just punch the punching bag for maintenance
Same, I mostly ask questions too
Sparring is the best practice tho
I don't get many opportunities to spar. Everyone knows what they're doing until they get punched in the face
also, the best self defense is your feet
not worth fighting in public, that's jailtime
Don't put yourself in dangerous/risky environments
Yes, I definitely will be careful.
I was speaking to a feminist yesterday who LIKES Valerie Solanas. She is a straight up man hater who shot a man. She founded SCUM. She's literally a criminal feminist. I wanted to physically harm that lady. I won't lie.
But I still love martial arts, I used to be completely obsessed with it
With a straight face she said "I support her movement." When I explained her movement... I was blown away and got really angry.
That's excellent dude! I wrestled in HS and college a little, in their non-school league. I wrestled with the athletic team and did fairly well overall. I learned a lot and stayed in shape!
You got to be careful with people in general. The silver lining in the fact that all everyone does is monkey chatter and small talk is that you don't ruin your reputation by saying what you really want to say, even if they are facts
is TFM streming to day??
@Sigma Yeah, that conversation may come back to bite me. I sincerely wanted to break her. It was pure rage in my mind. Gah, I'm still fuming.
I did one season of wrestling, kempo karate, kickboxing/boxing, and MMA
@MeepMeepRonin I think so... doesn't he normally?
I heard TFM was streaming later on
got a link to it
Do you think if someone does 5x5 heavy barbell compound lifts + rows/sprints/bikes/swims + does kickboxing/BJJ + yoga; they're pretty well rounded?
@MeepMeepRonin No ๐ฆ
absolutely
You're an athlete at that point
what?
but I will caution you that weightlifting will conflict with martial arts
@Sigma I wouldn't call myself an athlete but I do row/bike 10km 2 days a week, lift 3 days, spar once every quarter, shoot pistol/rifle every quarter and do yoga on the weekends.
@Ryowama Could you share the link to TFM's stream tonight? Again ๐ Because I love you
The reason is because you only have time and energy to do very well in one, but the other suffers a little bit. Also because you'll fall in love with Martial arts AND weightlifting and you'll have trouble deciding what to focus on primarily, which is what I struggled with
Link hasn't been made yet. 9 Hours till actual show and link is established.
@Sigma I've been debating switching from a power lifting reigment to a crossfit type regiment or simply giving up kickboxing/bjj and sticking to lifting.
Same dude
Back to fapping.
haha
that's why I haven't worked out in a while, I feel like I have to choose only one and stick with it. Now do I want to only look tough, or do I want to actually be tough?
he faps
haha
See fapping response.
Gotta do what you gotta do
no lie... I have been fapping less since learning mgtow/rp... is it just me? like, it just annoys me now sometimes
I try to harness my sexual drive into work haha
"transmutation" or whatever that is
@Sigma I think if I lifted once or twice a week and sparred/practiced 1-2 days... that would be a nice middle ground
I honestly don't give a fuck, I'm not really trying to impress that many people. Monkeys fap too in order to keep themselves healthy. I'm not much more than a smart monkey, so why not?
I tried doing a 3 day lifting split with 2 days dedicated to martial arts classes
thx btw
It was still hard to do
However, if you have that base foundation I think it's enough. I am not lifting to get super big though either nor do I compete in power lifting so once I hit my goals (500lb deadlift, 400lb back squat, 300lb bench, 200lb overhead press, 25 pullups), I would just be maintaining that or switching to a crossfit/mma regiment.
Sexual transmutation, it's really nothing more than channeling energy towards something productive
Yeah, true.
When I did kempo in college, I used to do an Athlean-X program 5 days per week on top on karate
I mean... to be ripped/powerful for fighting, do I need to be able to hit those goals I listed? not really haha
That was the peak of my physical conditioning
That's awesome.
I don't think I can ever get back to that
I was a fucking beast, but I lost it and been on and off in the gym for a couple of years
I don't know where all the energy to be able to do all of that came from, I think it's mostly because I had a workout partner who taught me everything I know about fitness
then he got a home gym and we don't work out together anymore, so I have to be more self reliant and self disciplined
I would say focus on explosive movements and plyometric training
You want to be fast AND transfer a lot of force
If you build muscle, it won't necessarily go away if you only do martial arts. I think the muscles adapt in order to be more dense, faster, explosive
I think the most important thing is: heavy compound lifts that shock the central nervous system to increase testosterone, inhibit estrogen and therefore increase muscle mass and increase lean body mass. If you eat low carbs (not good for mma/performance), high fats/medium protein and lift heavy/do hiit cardio... that's manageable. If you compete a lot and perform with high intensity all the time... I think you'd break your body down. So, I am more of the mind to focus on learning the basics to boxing/bjj and maintaining the base level of skill but focusing on a healthy physique.
I am probably wrong though or that is just ONE way... as with mgtow, there are countless ways.
I don't prefer that way... it just seems "best" and I feel "best" on it compared to doing more crossfit-type workouts and competing all the time.
You might want to just focus on learning how to fight and forget about weightlifting for a while
However, I'm also not on a level you're on with mma probably so I dunno.
Yeah?
You can weightlift at age 50 if you wanted to
True
weightlifting is safe
martial arts breaks your body down, so it's best to do it when you're young
haha
