During a conversation Sam had with a member that was relayed to me, he admitted to being at or over 20% Jewish in racial admixture. This is in tow with him being a landlord and the likelihood for entanglements that sustains if his membership were to be on the table.

While 20% is technically within the 25% total, we reserve the right to deny anyone for any foreign ethnic background or association, where it may exist. The context of the conversation had him citing personal affection towards this heritage. Thus the concern. Even still, his previous inactivity was far more vast than his stint as a non-member, and in any case I'd like to see such time balanced so that we can be more sure of reconciliation. More to a general context than this.

In the case that he was joking, then my concern would be that the joke itself is so vile, especially if left un-clarified. I have no reason to believe the person who gave me their testimony would lie about such information, considering no motive and no benefit to them, also considering the detail of said testimony.

I am not against you talking or being friends with or being a tenant of his, he could be preferable to a landlord who bears an entirely Jewish heritage in any case where finances are concerned. But membership is something beyond the question. I cited alternative, yet still pertinent, reasoning in the NW chat to avoid displaying information about those who you are personally affiliated with.

I would not bring it up with him or anyone else, and just be content with him as a friend. I think that would be the most amicable solution for all involved.

I recall him telling me his jewish ancestry was more like 10% and he never expressed pride in it. If someone else said something contradictory, that is something I was not aware of.

It's a more recent development. I don't really want to dig all around to find out what exactly is underneath the rumors, but I know there's enough for us to be hands off in his case. Nothing against him personally, but as a member, there's quite a baggage that I'd rather we not have to worry about.

I would like there to at least be no ill-will towards him being that he holds a roof over mine and my fiancés head and if relations were to sour, I would not be so certain of my living situation.

I don't have any ill-will. The decision is purely logistical.

Can I have a general idea of what you would like me to tell him?

You can simply say that I am too conflicted about his past inactivity. Which is a not-insignificant factor.
