i admit though i'd enjoy the mental gymnastics that would come from re-opening the selective service case.

2018-09-10 02:41:05 UTC

Draftees aren't completely useless.

2018-09-10 02:41:38 UTC

the last time someone tried to open selective service to women it was denied because the majority of combat occupations were not open to women. can't use that excuse anymore.

2018-09-10 02:42:05 UTC

I'd assume their first purpose, after being rushed through basic training, would be to take the non-combat jobs done by more senior soldiers. Filling roles like logistics.

2018-09-10 02:42:13 UTC

We have a draft here and I think it’s really good for the country.

2018-09-10 02:42:30 UTC

ROFL

2018-09-10 02:42:44 UTC

you think you're going to get loggies to go do combat? good fucking luck

2018-09-10 02:43:13 UTC

Draft doesn’t always mean combat.

2018-09-10 02:43:24 UTC

There are plenty of other roles.

2018-09-10 02:43:34 UTC

yeah it pretty much does mean combat.

2018-09-10 02:43:34 UTC

If someone signed up during peace time it must have been because they wanted to get out there and fight.

2018-09-10 02:44:09 UTC
2018-09-10 02:44:18 UTC

No it doesn’t. Take it from someone who was drafted and worked with people who were also drafted and not in combat roles.

2018-09-10 02:44:49 UTC

Non-combat jobs: 38.8% of enlisted personnel had rear echelon assignments—administrative, support, or manual labor.

2018-09-10 02:45:05 UTC

So more than 60% were combat arms. Mostly grunts.

2018-09-10 02:45:31 UTC

I'm not talking about peacetime military conscription. This is for actual war.

2018-09-10 02:45:41 UTC

The US does not do peacetime military conscription.

2018-09-10 02:45:47 UTC

At least not since the 50s

2018-09-10 02:46:16 UTC

That's World War 2, dude. Stuff has changed a lot.

2018-09-10 02:46:36 UTC

Yeah you don’t need as many combat roles anymore.

2018-09-10 02:47:47 UTC

Yeah, a lot has changed. You can't just take a random asshole off the street, give him a rifle and six weeks of training and expect him to accomplish anything.

2018-09-10 02:48:11 UTC

Conscription is a complete and utter waste of time and resources in modern warfare.

2018-09-10 02:48:30 UTC

Mass conscription, maybe. But you were talking about selective service before.

2018-09-10 02:48:35 UTC

I don't even want to imagine being put in charge of a platoon of conscripted millenials.

2018-09-10 02:49:05 UTC

The military can still need to get people into roles when they fall short of regular recruitment.

2018-09-10 02:49:28 UTC

They do that by reactivating retired personnel.

2018-09-10 02:49:49 UTC

Like recently the reactivated a bunch of pilots.

Windows cucks btfo

2018-09-10 02:50:26 UTC

Conscripted millennials would actually be great. Teach them some discipline.

2018-09-10 02:50:43 UTC

Some millennials do

2018-09-10 02:50:46 UTC

Fuck man. This isn't for the good of the millennial. It's for the good of the country.

2018-09-10 02:50:50 UTC

A lot do

2018-09-10 02:50:59 UTC

Conscription would actually solve a lot of problems with millenials

2018-09-10 02:51:00 UTC

It's GenZ that's a bunch of cunts

2018-09-10 02:51:02 UTC

Those can be one in the same.

2018-09-10 02:51:05 UTC

People always looking at the military like it's there to do something for you.

2018-09-10 02:51:17 UTC

It's not a jobs program.

2018-09-10 02:51:31 UTC

The good of the country is for millennials to stop being weak.
