whenever modern political discourse is occurring in front of my eyeballs (y'know yelling and threatening and dismissing arguments completely on the basis that the person is "delusional"), i occasionally have the thought... how ideas are formed. ideas that build prosperous societies are not developed at the drop of a hat, but through study and theory, and unfortunately many times through mass suffering. upon this basis, i believe philosophy and political science are the most valuable fields of study in the world.
