The issue is that if you pump money in, the people will find a way to help themselves to it.

The costs grew because there were tax subsidies.

There's a couple nutty libertarian places that refuse any form of insurance and basic operations rarely exceed $100.

Surgical is pricier. But in this hospital price reductions of the order of >80% are not uncommon.
