but who knows

2020-04-06 08:09:31 UTC

A theory is that it mutates/mutated so often because one of the gases used as chemical warfare, mustard gas, has highly mutagenic properties

2020-04-06 08:11:15 UTC

(Also why it causes cancer (mustard gas i mean))

2020-04-06 08:12:30 UTC

But yeah, there will be strains forming of course — but not at the frequency of H1N1

2020-04-06 08:19:22 UTC

PM's in hospital, but it's only the flu, bro!

2020-04-06 08:26:06 UTC

He’ll recover

2020-04-06 08:47:28 UTC

@Gaylien I man have posted the number of deaths by region thing a couple of times, but the rest is other information. 'Twas for aussie anyway. Nice engagement with what I was actually saying tho 👍 😏

2020-04-06 08:48:27 UTC

he's just having some routine tests

2020-04-06 08:48:31 UTC

nothing to worry about

2020-04-06 08:51:47 UTC

prospect of him being incapacitated and having Rishi Sunak as PM

2020-04-06 08:51:55 UTC

Think some of the server would have a meltdown

2020-04-06 08:54:18 UTC

Yeah don't exaggerate Eccles. He went in as a precautionary measures for persistent symptoms. I've had a cough for 6 weeks in the past and I'm unfortunately still here.😏

2020-04-06 08:54:46 UTC

That's because winter is the time for upper respiritory tract infections

2020-04-06 08:54:58 UTC

And now we're coming into pollen season

2020-04-06 08:55:14 UTC

I'm snotting and scratching all over the place and have been for a couple of weeks

2020-04-06 08:55:29 UTC

Been trying not to take anything for it except at it's worst

2020-04-06 08:57:21 UTC

i could be running a temperature, or i could just be a fat middle aged bloke who just did some housework 😉

2020-04-06 09:04:26 UTC

@Cassiopeia Yeah I remember when I found out that the Chinese don’t flush the toilet paper after use.

2020-04-06 09:04:39 UTC

that's not just the chinese

2020-04-06 09:04:54 UTC

quite common, local plumbing dependent

2020-04-06 09:05:08 UTC

I was only living in China. Where else do they do that?

2020-04-06 09:05:10 UTC

greece, cyprus, turkey

2020-04-06 09:05:15 UTC

Oh lol

2020-04-06 09:05:39 UTC

don't get me wrong, it's filthy, but i don't think it's entirely cultural

2020-04-06 09:08:57 UTC

It’s one of many odd things I saw out there. Like some poor bloke walking I. The middle of the road in literally rags while flashy cars drove around him, people spitting every 5 seconds and people smoking in hospitals (everywhere in fact). Drying out food on the floor, being extremely rude. Was a very cool experience that’s for sure lol

2020-04-06 09:09:29 UTC

they didn't have the same industrialisation process there over time

2020-04-06 09:09:33 UTC

their change has been rapid

2020-04-06 09:09:39 UTC

and extremely uneven

2020-04-06 09:09:40 UTC

Too rapid.

2020-04-06 09:09:52 UTC

yes, that's why these weird anomolies still exist

2020-04-06 09:10:20 UTC

in a perfect world you'd want them to develop gradually thus retain the character of the culture but modernising and dropping the stupid stuff

2020-04-06 09:10:26 UTC

but we don't live in a perfect world, it is how it si

2020-04-06 09:10:57 UTC

I came back home and then went back 2 years later and they had literally built a new part of the city

2020-04-06 09:11:16 UTC

there are allegedly new cities mostly empty

2020-04-06 09:11:33 UTC

I’ve heard that! These were not though

2020-04-06 09:11:50 UTC

think it's overcapacity due to their modernisation method

2020-04-06 09:12:13 UTC

and since it's central govmt controlled, they have to keep the accelerator down even if it means overproducing

2020-04-06 09:12:27 UTC

i'm guessing thats why, alongside the strategic element, they're building across africa too

2020-04-06 09:12:36 UTC

with little prospect of recouping, financially

2020-04-06 09:12:48 UTC

"what can we do with this overcapcity that could be useful to us"

2020-04-06 09:13:52 UTC

Zhaoqing was a pretty bustling place tbh
