This wouldn't do anything to the ecosystem

with the fence though, i think it'd be neat if we had gates accross it to allow wildlife to cross if there's any in the area, but close them if there's hordes of ilegals trying to use them as a point of entry

It'd function on the same area in the same way, there would just be no gene flow between the two for larger animals
