thus our present situation
Sargon and others triggering an FTC crackdown might as well be a death sentence for the very platforms that made his content possible
>sargon
These guys suck Google dick and don't take a stand against YouTube or any effort at all to move to or promote an alternative but they complain endlessly the entire time instead and point out the biased bent actions of the company they sell out to.
bruh I dont even watch his videos I'm just here because of <#678531385123667998>
YT IS GOOGLE
and YT is powered by Adsense, also google
Adsense is EVERYWHERE
blogs, social media, websites,... everywhere
if yt unintetionally associates an ad with a controversial video, google risks that company pulling out of adsense
they'd rather kill YT completely and cut their loses
I get the business case defense YouTube could make
What pisses me off is for years these fuckers did nothing
Not a damn thing
and by rights, they and others suchas Discord have been blatently ignoring the laws in regards to mining the data of minors
it's even in their TOS
To prepare for getting fucked
why would they?
they were raking in money with little to no effort doing something they know was sketchy
I would like to see youtube completely collapse
and they also knew if the FTC came after them, they could just blame creators
very old dirty business trick
Jesus. Any reason at all.
To SPITE Google is a good enough reason
YT IS GOOGLE
same company, it's just a subsidary
You keep saying that as if nobody is aware of that.
so.. who would 'spite google'?
Youtube created an automatic system of "copyright" claims that allow anyone to accuse anyone else of copyright infringement and STEAL THEIR ADVERT REVENUE and as far as I know, that system is STILL in place, it just doesn't make the news
CYA
they don't really have any way else to do it
if they really followed the law, the payoff wouldn't be worth it
Then the law is the problem
hence the platform/publisher model that drives the internet
if you are libel for users, then you can't afford the potential liability
Someone has made a law that is so stupid it would compeltely destroy digital platforms if enforced fairly
and u have no way of knowing what creators will be popular
That;'s idiotic
no, you have it backwards
the platforms came ABOUT by BREAKING the existing laws as a rule
The law is the first problem there and there are already ways around that. The first and most obvious way around these laws is not using YouTube for starters.
