I will go try figure out how much would 1 energy credit be worth

2018-11-06 06:37:06 UTC

10min with my quik math

2018-11-06 06:37:11 UTC

Not sure tho

2018-11-06 06:37:27 UTC

It would take an hour about to charge it then.

2018-11-06 06:37:35 UTC

But is my theory possible?

2018-11-06 06:37:39 UTC

Definitely

2018-11-06 06:37:42 UTC

2000mah @ 3.7V is about 10Wh

2018-11-06 06:37:43 UTC

You need to figure out what it can do and also what it's worth - they're slightly different

2018-11-06 06:38:01 UTC

If it draws 10 watt, it would take an hour to charge from totally empty to full

2018-11-06 06:38:09 UTC

That's not terrible

2018-11-06 06:38:14 UTC

So, you can produce more, but you can't "squeeze" it into the battery faster than that

2018-11-06 06:38:33 UTC

I mean, it's exercise 😛

2018-11-06 06:38:38 UTC

I really should learn how to ride a bike

2018-11-06 06:38:43 UTC

pedaling produces up to 200W, but you only need 10

2018-11-06 06:38:54 UTC

can you store the rest?

2018-11-06 06:38:58 UTC

So, you need to have patience, but you will not have to exert a lot of energy.

2018-11-06 06:39:27 UTC

You can basically have a reclining bike, read a magazine, and if you lightly pedal, like the grannies at the gym, you can charge your phone, easily.

2018-11-06 06:39:42 UTC

By this guy's estimates, you're doing worse in terms of cost and footprint

2018-11-06 06:40:05 UTC

It will still take you an hour, but the maximum draw of your phon eis 10W, so if you hook it up to your bike, you can ride around and listen to music as long as you want.

2018-11-06 06:41:04 UTC

Imagine being in the wilderness, you are out of battery, but have your bike with you. Just ride around for an hour and the battery will be full.

2018-11-06 06:41:28 UTC

I think that would actually be really, really cool.

2018-11-06 06:41:42 UTC

Also, you can screw an adapter into a light bulb and convert it to usb.

2018-11-06 06:41:51 UTC

That shouldn't take me longer than an hour or so to solder.

2018-11-06 06:42:18 UTC

So you can charge 20 phones in one hour.

2018-11-06 06:42:45 UTC

I wonder how to set up my brainchild currency system

2018-11-06 06:42:52 UTC

I just need to build something similar for a bike lamp, and that's it.

2018-11-06 06:43:01 UTC

Cuz I am definitely onto something here

2018-11-06 06:43:07 UTC

Oil values are dropping rn

2018-11-06 06:43:20 UTC

Dang, I will actually see if I can sell this in Europe.

2018-11-06 06:43:23 UTC

So one hour divided by 20 to get time it takes to make enough electricity to charge one phone

2018-11-06 06:43:37 UTC

Yes, I think so.

2018-11-06 06:43:49 UTC

Those are just rough estimates, but a biker produces about 200W of energy.

2018-11-06 06:44:09 UTC

Apparently, the charging draw for an iPhone is about 10W.

2018-11-06 06:44:13 UTC

Energy loses and so on...

2018-11-06 06:44:36 UTC

And phone is Wh not just W but yeah

2018-11-06 06:45:02 UTC

One joule is worth this much 0.0000115522875816

2018-11-06 06:45:20 UTC

as of current oil prices

2018-11-06 06:46:15 UTC

You can probably use your regular Apple charger. Even if you pedal too slowly, it shouldn't bother the adapter.
