space ships
unknowable technology
^^ autism
that sort of thing
its science fiction fantasy
That doesn't mean it's scifi however
Indian myths have flying cities, is it scifi? <:smugon:512048583806025739>
that's illustrating a complete imability to recognize nuance, luci
space faring civilizations
artificial intelligence
futuristic inventions
how is that not science fiction?
“If you squint hard enough, and look at a few very specific things... lovecraft is actually romantic comedy.”
star wars = sci-fantast ; star trek = science fiction
VERY different
@Scale_e i mean there was some romance
like that dude that got hitched with a ghoul
Well there you go
lol
Sounds fun to me
Romantic comedy
means they are only SIMILAR
but anyways
there are plenty of classic "sci fi" authors who did science fiction fantasy
i always felt like sci-horror was .. cheating
you never saw alien??
“*American history X* is a romantic comedy about the sexual escapades of a white supremeo during his stay in prison.”
yeah, i saw alien. wasn't crazy about it
it was just another form of horror and we already had plenty of that
just needed to turn on the news
*Alien* is horror
*Aliens* is sci fi
the purpose of horror is to frieghten and thrill... but we already beat that horse to death
@Scale_e you realize that the two arent mutually exclusive yes?
sci-fi was a way of 'sneaking messages' into people's heads soo they would see them from a different angle
much like i see anime being today in a way
the message passes right by at least 50% of the population
Alien was pretty frighteny and thrilly.
Then again I first watched it when I was 6 and parents were not keen on letting me see the alien scenes. I then acquired immunity to the shock as it was explained to me that the alien is basically a large crocodile <:Veemote:501103628883591188>
hey
@Lucienne d'Anwyl Of course, but if you don’t boil it down to a single genre... *the purpose of using genre to describe a film disappears.*
