It's amazing to see how it all worked in the background.
TO understand BSP, binary partitioning of space, how to build an engine, to tinker with it, etc.
Yeah, I guess it probably looked better than them 4 bit graphics too
It's interesting how all the basics pretty much still apply to modern engines.
The approach to engine design, collision detection, etc. hasn't change that drastically.
And, of course, you can do hilarious stuff, like mess with the AI or physics.
Sounds boring
Play the game instead
Well, somebody in the world has to find it interesting enough to build it.
I don't actually play many games anymore.
I find it much more satisfying to create.
@Undead Mockingbird the unreal engine is one of the coolest engines
Building games in Unity is really like a game itself.
It's super quick and easy to create really wacky things.
thank you `cp -ruv`
my new favorite command
Sometimes I have a crazy idea, I see what it would be like, and I sit down and program it in Unity for an hour or so.
I put it online, have a good laugh, and move on.
I do that with meme sites
Oh, yes. Unreal is pretty much the gold standard now.
but I don't have the skill in Unity to make joke games
It's amazing what kind of eye candy they can produce.
Must be becuase yall are old
@Undead Mockingbird have you tried making a game with the source engine?
I have made mods for source engine based games, but never an entire game, no.
Goddamn, that's good looking
I am not sure, but I think I might have to license it to do so.
And yet none of yall have ever heard of star citizen
I find it incredibly fascinating to build these kind of things.
Just playing a game is boring to me.
Its cause your to focused on the 90s
What I like about the unreal engine is the capabilities it has
Star Citizen... what if it was real..??
I want to understand how it works, take it apart, build new things, write code, mod things, put things back together, reverse engineer.
I cannot understand people who don't have an interest in that, at least a little. Sorry.
No interest
I think it's natural for most men to want to be creative in some way.
None what so ever
Not even a little bit
