Wakanda hit the magic bullshit that makes you godlike with super powers lottery. Had just... outright magic plants that gave anyone superpowers on par with Captain America, and you saw the amount of shit they had to do to make HIM super. Evolved the entire people around the area into super-smart and able to come up with all kinds of hyper-tech beyond the rest of the world.
... and the start of the movie was them whining that the world, without any help from unobtainium, was catching up with them at an alarming rate.
How the SHIT do you have an entire mountain of magic unobtainium and the ability to make any of your people into Captain America at will, and still be at risk of being outpaced technologically by the rest of the world that doesn't have those advantages?
