@Inquisition save 6 months of expenses in a savings account to protect against emergencies, then invest a percent of spare cash after exspenses
six months of take-home pay is a good standard for an emergency fund
the vast majority of people can achieve this, if they are willing to live within their means
Can’t use centrist anymore
@Inquisition what proportion of your take home pay do you spend?
All of it. 😛
I'm guessing it's near all of it
consider spending less of it
What are you buying each week
look at your credit statement, and see if there's anything in there you honestly don't take full advantage of

big expense I see people have is eating out often. That adds up immensely compared to cooking their own food, and the health effects of constant takeout are pretty nasty
the sheer amount of salt, sugar and oils that resturant and takeout food has alone...
Yeah, eating out is incredibly expensive, both on the front end, and in the long term
and honestly, it is a fleeting joy
It’s great
a slowcooker though is a frugal college students best friend, learned that back in college myself
pressure cooker is even better than slow cooker
I loved the hell out of my slow cooker back in college
better results in less time
I stepped away two years ago from online donation, I was just wasting money about 1k USD a month on twitch streams and super chats. Now I am saving for building my dream house.
similar results in similar time, if you use your pressure cooker as a slow cooker
@4AM_critter 🐉 sweet :- )
Chicken gnoochi out of an instapot is amazing
Also cabbage rolls
with a schedule though, you start the slow cooker then go to work or class and it's done when you get back.
Start tally up all the small numbers. It surprised me.
Well the thing is it’s already been done
The only thing I splurge on is sending Tim Pool 20 bucks a month
because I believe Tim is so important to the public discourse that it is a form of investment
And things to shove up your butt
Tim is critical infrastructure
True
I do want to try vacuum frying with my pressure cooker though, learned how to do that recently
I want to experiment with higher pressure vessels
Nice @Termer
