i think for DIY arduino is more popular

2018-11-29 17:50:18 UTC

ye

2018-11-29 17:50:25 UTC

But lacks horses to do what I want

2018-11-29 17:50:49 UTC

Like, if you had a home automation system, what would you want it to realistically do?

2018-11-29 17:51:08 UTC

my coffe maker has a clock and a start timer so no need to automate it, my lights have either sensors to turn on/off or timers to do so, my crockpot just runs all day... the hell would I need with an automated home more then what I have?

2018-11-29 17:51:14 UTC

tranq dart gun with face recognition!

2018-11-29 17:51:30 UTC

intruder alert! thwuck

2018-11-29 17:51:44 UTC

my alarm system is 3 large dogs

2018-11-29 17:51:59 UTC

Open/close windows/blinds and run/stop AC based on weather, perform security, maybe control lights, give morning weather reports and traffic reports in real time?

2018-11-29 17:52:03 UTC

can your amazon echo bite someone? then nah

2018-11-29 17:52:21 UTC

But yeah

2018-11-29 17:52:24 UTC

it's mostly novelty

2018-11-29 17:52:28 UTC

imagine walking into your home with a friend... and several guns swing around to them.... and your like "add user, autherise alpha 615"

2018-11-29 17:52:36 UTC

until you can do stuff like auto-mow the lawns/take out trash, etc

2018-11-29 17:53:09 UTC

But that'd require actual systems and construction to automate

2018-11-29 17:53:11 UTC

I actually cannot think of anything I would trust to automate with IoT, especially that smartlock

2018-11-29 17:53:22 UTC

Oh right not w/ IoT

2018-11-29 17:53:27 UTC

I'm just talking automation in general

2018-11-29 17:53:47 UTC

btw i believe there are automated lawn mowers

2018-11-29 17:53:53 UTC

It'd be nice to have a garbage can that curb'd itself. But then some asshole would steal it.

2018-11-29 17:53:59 UTC

hmmm....

2018-11-29 17:54:34 UTC

I mean, I have a Roomba (a very dumb one) that does actually help keep the main floor clean

2018-11-29 17:54:55 UTC

it's the pile of snow mixed with salt and rocks in the way that bothers me more then the trashcan though

2018-11-29 17:54:59 UTC

I'm absolutely not against automation/tech but current IoT tech shit is garbo.

2018-11-29 17:55:13 UTC

can't get a roomba, the dogs would kill it

2018-11-29 17:55:14 UTC

Yeah, good point

2018-11-29 17:55:17 UTC

oh?

2018-11-29 17:55:28 UTC

We had a german shepherd that was mega active, never bothered it

2018-11-29 17:55:49 UTC

Only reason I don't have one for every floor is expense, tbh

2018-11-29 17:56:04 UTC

get a roomba with tranq darts... and dog recognition

2018-11-29 17:56:11 UTC

But it does a...surprisingly good job, truth be told.

2018-11-29 17:56:29 UTC

I honestly expected it to be a novelty.

2018-11-29 17:57:17 UTC

Now they need to make clothes folding machines commercially available.

2018-11-29 17:57:40 UTC

Oh

2018-11-29 17:57:43 UTC

drop dirty clothes in, pull folded clothes out?

2018-11-29 17:57:46 UTC

Oh no

2018-11-29 17:58:08 UTC

That can a sign of things to come

2018-11-29 17:58:22 UTC

trump should have walked out flipping them all off

2018-11-29 17:58:42 UTC

@Misomania That would be top tier ideal, yeah.

2018-11-29 17:59:00 UTC

Having an All In One would be amazing.

2018-11-29 18:00:01 UTC

from what I understand of that. The press pool fucked around and weren't even started getting ready to leave when the president's motorcade was waiting to leave
