Then they get the shitty internet they ask for

2018-12-07 16:36:21 UTC

Pornhub is restricted from hosting certain kinds of legal pornography.

2018-12-07 16:37:09 UTC

Those are your choices
Shithouse sites given too much influence who will continue to fuck you over in whatever way is convenient, including selling your data, hiding news stories etc
Or
Bookmark more shit

2018-12-07 16:37:14 UTC

so implement search @Poppy Rider

2018-12-07 16:37:20 UTC

Some ppl still watch TV .

2018-12-07 16:37:31 UTC

GUYS

2018-12-07 16:37:33 UTC

it's better to have a few places to find things
than a group of boy kings who control everything

2018-12-07 16:37:33 UTC

Sometimes I don't know what I'm in the mood for.

2018-12-07 16:37:51 UTC

It's already been posted

2018-12-07 16:38:09 UTC

my bad 😅

2018-12-07 16:38:14 UTC

"Sometimes I don't know what I'm in the mood for"
That's a great reason to hand power over to a few people

2018-12-07 16:38:32 UTC

I agree, Boy kings are not a good idea, but I didn't say they platforms have to be dictatorships.

2018-12-07 16:38:44 UTC

Like the negatives massively outweigh the positives

2018-12-07 16:39:17 UTC

I said platforms are not a bad idea in and of themselves.

2018-12-07 16:39:40 UTC

They are. These massive platforms are the source of these problems by the nature of their construction

2018-12-07 16:40:04 UTC

Having a family friendly site of 4chan aka reddit is not hurting anyone.

2018-12-07 16:40:10 UTC

platforms are a bad idea
relative to distributed systems that enable people to own their own identity
and communicate on their own terms

2018-12-07 16:40:32 UTC

Wot

2018-12-07 16:40:37 UTC

Reddit is terrible

2018-12-07 16:40:47 UTC

Reddit is a shilling and genuine fake news platform lol

2018-12-07 16:40:57 UTC

I'd love to go back to the pre-Facebook, pre-Google profile internet, but the cat's out of the bag.

2018-12-07 16:41:02 UTC

I don't use reddit - I also don't care that it exists
as it should be

2018-12-07 16:41:10 UTC

Go back to what? Usenet?

2018-12-07 16:41:39 UTC

oooh daddy!

2018-12-07 16:41:57 UTC

there's not really an option to go back

2018-12-07 16:42:26 UTC

but you can reclaim some of the ideas we had before web 2.0
and move forward

2018-12-07 16:42:52 UTC

signal is a great example, imho

2018-12-07 16:43:09 UTC

There's always an option to reinvigorate the Internet's classic decentralized social media protocols.

2018-12-07 16:43:10 UTC

you could build a lot around that

2018-12-07 16:43:20 UTC

and the core is funded by a $50mm foundation

2018-12-07 16:43:27 UTC

so it isn't going anywhere any time soon

2018-12-07 16:44:17 UTC

The good old days after far behind you. The net has grown by orders of magnitude since then. Discovery and introduction, aggregation and shared spaces. Having a few of theses places is not a bad thing. Massive sites where I could let my kid run loose.

2018-12-07 16:44:43 UTC

do you let your kid run loose here @Poppy Rider ?

2018-12-07 16:44:58 UTC

( on discord )

2018-12-07 16:45:02 UTC

Not online, no.

2018-12-07 16:45:05 UTC

No

2018-12-07 16:45:05 UTC

yeah

2018-12-07 16:45:07 UTC

no, huh

2018-12-07 16:45:12 UTC

not on twitter, either
