my bad 😅
"Sometimes I don't know what I'm in the mood for"
That's a great reason to hand power over to a few people
I agree, Boy kings are not a good idea, but I didn't say they platforms have to be dictatorships.
Like the negatives massively outweigh the positives
I said platforms are not a bad idea in and of themselves.
They are. These massive platforms are the source of these problems by the nature of their construction
Having a family friendly site of 4chan aka reddit is not hurting anyone.
platforms are a bad idea
relative to distributed systems that enable people to own their own identity
and communicate on their own terms
Wot
Reddit is terrible
Reddit is a shilling and genuine fake news platform lol
I'd love to go back to the pre-Facebook, pre-Google profile internet, but the cat's out of the bag.
I don't use reddit - I also don't care that it exists
as it should be
Go back to what? Usenet?
oooh daddy!
there's not really an option to go back
but you can reclaim some of the ideas we had before web 2.0
and move forward
There's always an option to reinvigorate the Internet's classic decentralized social media protocols.
you could build a lot around that
and the core is funded by a $50mm foundation
so it isn't going anywhere any time soon
The good old days after far behind you. The net has grown by orders of magnitude since then. Discovery and introduction, aggregation and shared spaces. Having a few of theses places is not a bad thing. Massive sites where I could let my kid run loose.
do you let your kid run loose here @Poppy Rider ?
( on discord )
Not online, no.
No
yeah
no, huh
not on twitter, either
or tumblr
you know... the 2 largest distributors of child porn in the world, right?
He's too young for that. But it's not far off. I
I set yep all his profiles. I have acces to all of them.
I know exacly what he's up to.
adult supervision remains mandatory
there is no "run wild" that is actually responsible
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RrRzED2vOHA I like how CNN prints a misleading title even for something like this. It would be more accurate to say he teared up or choked up, but they use "cries" instead
