2020-03-25 05:13:58 UTC

the good thing is absolutely no pain in my back and just normal pain in feet (i wear Lowa's which are the most comfortable nicest hiking boots I have ever used)

2020-03-25 05:14:10 UTC

meaning I set my pack up right

2020-03-25 12:57:16 UTC

2020-03-25 13:00:27 UTC

2020-03-25 13:03:26 UTC

how do you pack it?

2020-03-25 13:03:38 UTC

also SWOL

2020-03-25 13:08:19 UTC

Well heavier stuff more towards my center of gravity, sleeping bag on bottom, and lighter stuff as it goes up. I have water collection and treatment on one side, and smaller tools on the left. Idk, it feels like its not organized the best with all the space it has

2020-03-25 13:12:05 UTC

So you dont have to worry about organization only with smaller sustainment pouches and your common use items you wanna focous on center of mass/center of gravity ill get my pack in a sec but a easy way to test is to get a 2x4 and balamce horizontal weight on the ticker side and vertical weight on thinner i have bad skulliosis so i can tell easily when something aint right

2020-03-25 13:25:53 UTC

Nah bruh, full kit is sexy

2020-03-25 13:27:09 UTC

so without ripping apart my pack too much its similar to what alot of civ use hikers would do also you may wanna under sling your sleep system to where i have my wool blanket i know amazon is a little iffy rn but they sell molle adapters with bungie cords and buckles systems and they fair me well ive also seen people tie their mat between their pack and back for a little more cushion idk i havent really attempted it, also the pack cover im using is just a gorka top and the pants are rolled under the y strap hope it helps fellow chads!

2020-03-25 13:27:22 UTC

ty btw

2020-03-25 13:29:14 UTC

Yeah I'm gonna have to play with my sleep system set up. Because I have a tent down below so I rock the mat n blanket up top. Tbh I think the tent weighs less

2020-03-25 13:29:48 UTC

why not a tarp system?

2020-03-25 13:30:12 UTC

Ehh maybe. I am gonna carry a tarp with me anyways

2020-03-25 13:32:32 UTC

tarps are a bit more easy but you will need to expand the sleep system and its a bit of a rabbit hole for tarps ngl, but i normally use a bivy, basicly a reusable emergency blanket precut paracord and steaks, what mat you got btw? i need a new one lol

2020-03-25 13:33:32 UTC

Some old one from my boy scout days lmao. I have been looking into the therma rest ones tho

2020-03-25 13:33:35 UTC

@thedarkness05 lookin like a double-wide surprise..god daaaayum

2020-03-25 13:35:03 UTC

honestly might just buy a yoga mat and spray coat it its sad but ask me how i know it works

2020-03-25 13:36:15 UTC

Because you've done it

2020-03-25 13:36:28 UTC

yeah....

2020-03-25 13:36:46 UTC

But seriously, I hear good things about the therma rest. Althou the issue is that they fold, not roll, so

2020-03-25 13:37:08 UTC

imma deff look into it ty my man

2020-03-25 13:38:27 UTC

i just have one of those little packable air mattresses inside, probably 8 inches by 4 inches diameter, only weighs maybe a pound, never considered just throwing a therma rest on there

2020-03-25 13:42:45 UTC

i too used those in my boy scout days

2020-03-25 13:43:22 UTC

how does your air mat hold up? ive been looking into those as well but tbh idk what quality materials are puncture proof and i know thats a big concern

2020-03-25 13:45:03 UTC

i get it's more of a civ thing, it's just what I have on hand. As long as you just use it in the tent or whatever sleep system you're running punctures shouldn't be too much of an issue. Buy quality, I'll admit I haven't done virtually any research on the best options

2020-03-25 13:45:10 UTC

might look into them and send some options

2020-03-25 13:46:57 UTC

my pack is an Eberlestock Lo Drag with the rifle scabbard and all that, it's really durable but I've been looking into some of the mystery ranch ones to upgrade

2020-03-25 13:47:25 UTC

snugpack tent and down bag

2020-03-25 13:47:38 UTC

also not optimal

2020-03-25 13:48:02 UTC

Finna might have to sceenshot some of this for my notes later

2020-03-25 13:49:05 UTC

imagine they made a goon multi-purpose tarpaulin that was thermally insulated for both warmth and FLIR...

2020-03-25 13:49:50 UTC

Welp lets get to the drawing board we gotta make some stuff up fast

2020-03-25 13:50:36 UTC

Also for real ty to both @Bard qnd @thedarkness05 you guys are legit waterfalls of info love learing from u both <3

2020-03-25 13:52:03 UTC

i'll admit I'm pretty new to using this stuff in any "serious capacity" but I know quality brands of equipment from either personal recommendation or limited experience
