The Speculative Excecution issues are mostly Intel, AMD is not as much affected as Intel is.

I'm probably going to be upgrading to Zen 2 once it drops if they improve IPC 10%+ an they hit 4.6ghz clocks on all cores

so yeah, let me wait until they have sorted their shit out (and IIRC, Intel got hit by another bug recently as well)

when I do it will be a cost / performance balance. I wont rule out AMD, but given my generally good experience with INTEL I'm likely to lean towards intel

AMD is better value for multithreaded tasks.. intel when raw IPC is required (at the moment) people who need workstations are going AMD while gamers are going Intel
