people don't seem to use these tools, but they exist in most good video codecs these days
including VP9 and AV1
H.264 didn't have it until an extension, and I'm not sure it's even implemented, so that's a no-go
@xorgy well , ive been wondering , what does the future of content hold for us.. is it 4k, 8k? or 480p?
because once people have to actually host their own videos
they may not wanna pay 2000 a month for 4k
on a distributed platform, somewhat reducing the size of multiple resolutions (and framerates? color depths?)can actually have a pretty good impact.
especially when it comes to the cost of caches
then again, YouTube is probably right not to be using it right now
cool. so multiple resolutions. we have just a Single Post to IPFS right now.. just pushes entire video to IPFS chain
There are some basic quality of life things, like loudness normalization, which should exist
no encoder on our DAPP
lbry
hmm
lbry centralized.
how do they get the multiple resolutions?
lbry is weird
they don't @xorgy just one
I was thinking of going to work with them
is it?
I thought it was block chain
yeah their admin of discord said it wasnt then i really looked into building on it
it's centralized APIs
not even like dtube
I don't really like the blockchain bit
the technology reeks
plus it's Shitty PoW chain
that can be attak'd
hm.
I like the simple human WoT + asymmetric crypto approach to things
money is a hard problem though
not everyone lives in a country where their cash is more efficient than even bitcoin
which is an atrocious thing to be able to say about your society.
@Zer0 i mean steem is better, no TX fees
i looked very closely at LBRY
and deep into the code... They use centralized API , they dont have any way to gather comments. No comments.
dtube has comments. No use for me building on it..
yeah
"hey lets make a youtube without comments"
ok it wont work.
