I'd love to see about the encoding side of things
actually we need ideas in that side of things
will users / video creators encode things themself or should we build it into our end user applications...
I think there's an opportunity for something similar to bitrate peeling to be integrated
people don't seem to use these tools, but they exist in most good video codecs these days
including VP9 and AV1
H.264 didn't have it until an extension, and I'm not sure it's even implemented, so that's a no-go
@xorgy well , ive been wondering , what does the future of content hold for us.. is it 4k, 8k? or 480p?
because once people have to actually host their own videos
they may not wanna pay 2000 a month for 4k
on a distributed platform, somewhat reducing the size of multiple resolutions (and framerates? color depths?)can actually have a pretty good impact.
especially when it comes to the cost of caches
then again, YouTube is probably right not to be using it right now
cool. so multiple resolutions. we have just a Single Post to IPFS right now.. just pushes entire video to IPFS chain
There are some basic quality of life things, like loudness normalization, which should exist
