I think what probably happened is that Kraut asked them about it, a bunch of them said no it's a bad idea, he took the ones that said yes and went "this will be the gay ops discord"
Then everyone else found out he went through with it. It's possible that they even knew before the news broke but were trying to get him to do his own cleanup (IE dont dox and delete your shit) before it all blew up
