Banning Jones goes against the very idea of a liberal society.
In a liberal society, if you don't like something, you are free to not pay attention to it. You don't have to give it your money or time.

In an authoritarian society, you are told by a powerful cabal/minority of people what you can and can't do.

Jones' banning is a microcosm of the idea of "I don't like it therefore you aren't allowed to have it."
