@triplefife a big sign of an incoming civil war is the polarization of people physically. When states turn into echochambers of singular thought as people on both sides of the divide move away from the ones on the other side and with their own. When half of the states are almost entirely one political party and the other states the other side. Like how california is pure democrat as it's republicans flee

2019-01-28 07:57:39 UTC

"Physically?"

2019-01-28 07:57:49 UTC

Isn't this more of a mental divide?

2019-01-28 07:58:03 UTC

Mental divides lead to physical divide

2019-01-28 07:58:10 UTC

It's the reason NYC is nearly a third world country

2019-01-28 07:58:15 UTC

White flight etc

2019-01-28 07:58:27 UTC

when people change from disagreeing online to segregating their communities into a idealogical purity chamber

2019-01-28 07:58:33 UTC

Yeah I know a guy who moved to my state from NY.

2019-01-28 07:58:41 UTC

Yeah I live in it

2019-01-28 07:59:14 UTC

think of how the country split just prior to the civil war

2019-01-28 07:59:19 UTC

north vs south

2019-01-28 07:59:58 UTC

@Misomania okay now I get what your saying. Your saying its a sign of a civil war because of people moving states.

2019-01-28 08:00:05 UTC

Wasn't quite getting it there at first.

2019-01-28 08:01:02 UTC

For the most part though I keep hearing about people not moving based on ideology, but because the prices in certain areas are to much.

2019-01-28 08:01:25 UTC

so when we have coastal areas that are predomoniantly democrat while the midlands are mostly republican that is an issue

2019-01-28 08:01:34 UTC

Still it could be a indicator of a soon to be civil war.

2019-01-28 08:01:41 UTC

along with a few in the center like illinois and others

2019-01-28 08:02:09 UTC

What should be done? Tell all the mid landers to move to the coast and vice versa?

2019-01-28 08:02:41 UTC

People in general go where they will find others of a agreeable nature.

2019-01-28 08:02:54 UTC

Its just human instinct to do so.

2019-01-28 08:03:11 UTC

honestly? as long as the democrats are in a freefall I have no idea

2019-01-28 08:03:16 UTC

I myself like to find places where I can ask questions.

2019-01-28 08:03:33 UTC

But I'm not like most people.

2019-01-28 08:03:57 UTC

if you look at the idealogical spread charts they are the only ones that moved on the chart and they are in a freefall left while conservatives are where they have always been

2019-01-28 08:04:08 UTC

I would suspect the majority of users here in this discord aren't like most people to be honest.

2019-01-28 08:04:46 UTC

When their states start failing because of bad policies then they have to find somewhere to go.

2019-01-28 08:05:18 UTC

It makes sense then that they try to move into territories which were like theirs.

2019-01-28 08:05:25 UTC

they did... to texas. Which is now liberal

2019-01-28 08:05:28 UTC

Birds of a feather and all that.

2019-01-28 08:05:51 UTC

this may be the last year a republican gets elected for it's senate

2019-01-28 08:06:04 UTC

Could be.

2019-01-28 08:09:41 UTC

Yep.

2019-01-28 08:12:11 UTC

that was in 2014.. imagine what the spread is now

2019-01-28 08:12:35 UTC

republicans in there had the same peak in 2001 and 2014 while the democrats shifted immensely left
