That means a lot of lead time, a lot of purchases and a hell of a delay between starting the process committing the attack

2019-01-31 20:35:36 UTC

A whole lot of windup, but a much worse punch

2019-01-31 20:35:50 UTC

Chemicals that harm are easy to make

2019-01-31 20:35:57 UTC

and can be store bought,

2019-01-31 20:36:45 UTC

mustard gas from cleaning agents, phosgene from refrigerant, chlorine gas from pressurized containers. Isnt too hard.

2019-01-31 20:37:48 UTC

No, but what is hard is not killing oneself with it

2019-01-31 20:38:06 UTC

The main point isnt casualties but the fear of casualties. Fear is the most potent weapon a terrorist can use

2019-01-31 20:38:52 UTC

Right and thats where the schools of thought diverge

Fear of a worse punch vs fear of a bunch of punches

2019-01-31 20:41:52 UTC

Super terrorism executed by organized cells compared vs lone wolves

2019-01-31 20:41:55 UTC

I think a general rule today with media cycles the way they are. The fear of multiple punches does way better than one big hit.

2019-01-31 20:42:22 UTC

Cause one big hit will cause fear at some locations. Hit a bunch of smaller targets, no one feels safe

2019-01-31 20:43:08 UTC

Yea, that explains part of the reason for the move toward lone wolf attacks

2019-01-31 20:44:07 UTC

Thats why if you hit mid sized towns shopping venues (outlet malls, bus depots, smaller regional airports) everyone is now a target. That can cause a lot more economic damage than one big hit in say New York or LA. Hit small town USA and the fear goes everywhere

2019-01-31 20:45:31 UTC

Also less security too, higher chance of success

2019-01-31 20:45:41 UTC

Right, that was the idea behind the wargame

2019-01-31 20:46:12 UTC

Also that wargame was a shit show

2019-01-31 20:46:23 UTC

A lot of agencies failed it

2019-01-31 20:46:31 UTC

As is often the case

2019-01-31 20:46:31 UTC

Which isnt suprising

2019-01-31 20:46:45 UTC

Agreed

2019-01-31 20:49:34 UTC

Like how would a small town hospital deal with an surge of patients with chemical agents. The firefighters and paramedics wouldnt have the equipment to take precautions causing more casualties in the beginning before a command structure on scene would come about

2019-01-31 20:50:55 UTC

Fuck this would be a mess

2019-01-31 20:51:58 UTC

Assuming that agent lingers until the first responders arrive yes

2019-01-31 20:52:14 UTC

Most agents dissipate fairly quickly

2019-01-31 20:52:31 UTC

Most chemical agents need a washdown. Others are worse when you wash down.

2019-01-31 20:52:58 UTC

Chemical Burning agents need washdown, nerve agents spread in water washdowns making them worse

2019-01-31 20:53:00 UTC

It all depends on the agents

2019-01-31 20:53:48 UTC

Man this would be a bad situation in any country

Oh man i didnt even think of fentanyl

2019-01-31 20:55:16 UTC

2019-01-31 20:55:23 UTC

Besides if you wanted to terrify americans you wouldnt attack the US at all

2019-01-31 20:55:39 UTC

you go to south america and poison the drug supply

2019-01-31 20:56:08 UTC

Delivery system - check
Dispersion system - check
Evading authorities - check

2019-01-31 20:56:14 UTC

Nah fentanyl as a agent in a attack. Pure stuff is extremly hazardous on bare skin

2019-01-31 20:57:12 UTC

Hmm that could happen and be very bad. I dont know many paramedics that carry enough narcan for a mass dosing

2019-01-31 20:57:35 UTC

I need to stop thinking on this one

2019-01-31 20:59:08 UTC

Thats why these things should be left to people who are paid to think about them
