Yeah....

2019-02-01 04:25:34 UTC

i wouldn't say it was particularly reliable

2019-02-01 04:25:39 UTC

australia has no radiation like dta

2019-02-01 04:25:40 UTC

dat

2019-02-01 04:25:56 UTC

IMO I take it as ignorance is bliss, I'd someone's aerosoled something radioactive I just don't want to know

2019-02-01 04:26:28 UTC

Having a Geiger counter and knowing is crazy, just kill me ignorant

2019-02-01 04:26:35 UTC

The LNT isnt valid for radiation

2019-02-01 04:27:13 UTC

Look up Guarapari Beach

2019-02-01 04:27:31 UTC

Naturally radioactive

2019-02-01 04:28:21 UTC

Same with Ramsar, Iran

2019-02-01 04:29:03 UTC

australia one of the worlds largest exporters of uranium yet one nuclear reactor

2019-02-01 04:29:42 UTC

actually not powerplant

2019-02-01 04:29:45 UTC

i should say reactor

2019-02-01 04:29:58 UTC

Ok

2019-02-01 04:30:00 UTC

@Salacious Swanky Cat yeah there is a lot of natural radiation but as sensationlists like to say 1000 times higher or 1000000 higher than normal natural dose. Even 1 million times normal natural dose is still not very dangerous compared to the lowest levels that have been linked to increased cancer rates (unless its over a long time), but 300msv an hour is a lot higher than just a million times higher than normal.

2019-02-01 04:30:22 UTC

Also scared the poop out of me

2019-02-01 04:30:26 UTC

Environmentalists have destroyed the nuclear industry in US

2019-02-01 04:30:48 UTC

I have a plant near where I live in the US

2019-02-01 04:30:50 UTC

tfw nuclear reactors are actually cleaner than coal fired plants

2019-02-01 04:31:02 UTC

This was at the height of Trump hysteria, around late 2017. I haven't experienced the same sort of thing since.

2019-02-01 04:31:04 UTC

It's been at .5 percent capacity for decades

2019-02-01 04:31:10 UTC

@momoneymoproblems yes they are. Nuclear reactors even cause less radiation than coalpants

2019-02-01 04:31:23 UTC

The suburb was Brunswick

2019-02-01 04:31:57 UTC

yeah the thing is shit like fukushima and chernobyl are in the minds of people whenever you mention nuclear power plants

2019-02-01 04:32:04 UTC

@Redneo Maybe. I can't remember the model off the top of my head, but I know that the LNT isn't valid

2019-02-01 04:32:52 UTC

The environmentalists are trying to throttle the US energy industry.

2019-02-01 04:32:59 UTC

@Salacious Swanky Cat what does LNT stand for in this context?

2019-02-01 04:33:16 UTC

@Redneo Linear no Threshold model

2019-02-01 04:33:22 UTC

ah

2019-02-01 04:33:46 UTC

Assumes negative health impacts all the way to zero.

2019-02-01 04:33:51 UTC

Makes no sense

2019-02-01 04:33:51 UTC

The best case scenario in explaining why the greens hate nuclear is because they hear "nuclear waste" and don't realise 9/10 times this waste turns out to have a myriad of other usages, which is why it needs to be stored and not thrown away

2019-02-01 04:34:05 UTC

Otherwise, they're certainly just Luddites

2019-02-01 04:34:18 UTC

It can be recylced, but they prevented that too.

2019-02-01 04:34:22 UTC

hilarious that everyone hates environmentalists just like cyclists

2019-02-01 04:34:39 UTC

They're the worst and are anti-science

2019-02-01 04:34:45 UTC

Nuclear is key to environmentalism

2019-02-01 04:34:51 UTC

@BlueAndBlack well... using these ressources is illegal many places. regulations prohibit to treat that stuff sensibly

2019-02-01 04:35:08 UTC

not to speak of their BS claims of "dangerous for millions of years"...

2019-02-01 04:35:10 UTC

yeah no

2019-02-01 04:35:12 UTC

Yes.
