Not too long ago there was a guy who was killed in a SWAT-ing.
It's kind of scary. I think people reason less morally when they are not directly connected to the outcome of an action. They would never storm with a rifle into someone's house.

We always kind of go overboard with punishment in the US.
We send a group of highly armed people into someone's house just based on a phone call.
why do we do that?
Because people will always call for the most drastic measures.

It's not illegal.
You can release certain information, unless you release it to commit some other crime.
If you release it explicitly to have harm come to the person, it becomes illegal.
Idk for sure tbh but I think if they confirm that it’s fake then the caller is charged with a felony. Basically they screen the calls but again I don’t know for sure
