also not entirely sure how "roms" work

2019-02-09 02:53:05 UTC

@EndangeredProdigy If you replace the intel management firmware on your machine with a free version e.g. Linux based you maybe okay. But a lot of intel chipset don't have W^X execute bit and is a problem.

get a dumb flip phone, privacy is a joke no matter how you fuck with android

2019-02-09 02:53:23 UTC

flip phones are the fucking shit nigga

2019-02-09 02:53:29 UTC

hell yea

2019-02-09 02:53:29 UTC

You can't replace IME it's built into the chip

2019-02-09 02:54:09 UTC

flip phones still get listened to

2019-02-09 02:54:21 UTC

this thing looks cool

2019-02-09 02:54:28 UTC

anything with a microphone that's connected to the cellular network can be listened to

2019-02-09 02:54:28 UTC

lol

2019-02-09 02:54:39 UTC

correct, but some have a switch to turn off mic

2019-02-09 02:54:46 UTC

that doesn't do anything

2019-02-09 02:54:47 UTC

shit boys we can play tic-tac-toe on that motherfucker

2019-02-09 02:54:49 UTC

if you mean talking on networks at all, well ofc it is compromised

2019-02-09 02:54:58 UTC

that should be assumed already

2019-02-09 02:55:30 UTC

unless it's an actual hardware switch that eliminates ALL electrical current running to the microphone, it's not gonna keep them from listening to you

2019-02-09 02:55:35 UTC

that's what i meant

2019-02-09 02:55:38 UTC

they exist

2019-02-09 02:56:34 UTC

I wonder if there's a secret backdoor in Arduino or Pi boards

2019-02-09 02:56:49 UTC

not network wise

2019-02-09 02:56:53 UTC

the official ones anyway

2019-02-09 02:56:59 UTC

they aren't meant to be secure devices

2019-02-09 02:57:04 UTC

if it's on network, it's fucked

2019-02-09 02:57:08 UTC

yeah

2019-02-09 02:57:11 UTC

If you are mega paranoid the only way really is to use Power or RiscV system with an obscure OS (OpenBSD , Icaros or something like Guix)

2019-02-09 02:57:19 UTC

templeOS...

2019-02-09 02:57:22 UTC

only way to ensure that you aren't compromised it to not be connected to an open network

2019-02-09 02:57:23 UTC

obviously

2019-02-09 02:57:35 UTC

have everything run on a closed network

2019-02-09 02:57:44 UTC

but of course you can't do that if you want to use the internet

2019-02-09 02:57:44 UTC

lol

2019-02-09 02:58:05 UTC

i'm not sure about this

2019-02-09 02:58:10 UTC

i'd use sandboxes

2019-02-09 02:58:13 UTC

check out my new machine

2019-02-09 02:58:25 UTC

make sure that anything that talks to the ouside world is in a sandbox

2019-02-09 02:58:27 UTC

I doubt anyone will have a ready to go exploit for my MorphOS based Mac Mini G4

2019-02-09 02:58:35 UTC

I just stopped caring

2019-02-09 02:58:38 UTC

you'd be surprised how compromised it all is

2019-02-09 02:58:50 UTC

If they wanna listen in to my boring ass they can go right ahead

2019-02-09 02:58:52 UTC

if they want it, they will get it. period
