currently doing my pilot license. what can i do to prove either of the models and end this discussion for ever?
Commercial planes don’t fly over 30k ft
So you won’t be able to see curvature either way
but do i need to? navigation on a globe is different than on a flat surface
somehow i ought to be able to derive it from that alone right?
If that’s the case
Commercial airplanes would’ve flown over Antarctica by now
And planes navigation on a flat earth map
I don’t remember what it’s called unfortunately
unfortunately i am too far away to fly to antarctica
but i could try to fly southwest and northeast with equal distance and then look where i am at and see which map fits
would that be valid?
exactly
You will be going in a circle
no
You’d be going in a circle on a ball too
because i will go south-WEST and north-EAST
not strictly west or east
If you go south west you will be going to Antarctica
in the direction yes
Yes
If advise you stay away as it is illegal to go to
Even illegal to go there at a certain range
is it though? right across ther corner in a sports wear shop i can book expeditions to there
its expensive but you can do it
Yes it is illegal
And you are under heavy supervision and not allowed to explore freely
You are not even taken to the Antarctica
You are taken to one of the islands that is close to Antarctica
okay. i wont do it anyways. too expensive. but i dont need to right? i just can map a route such that it would be significantly different depending on what model is correct and then try to fly the route. i then can compare the outcome with the maps and see which one is correct
That would be very expansive
why?
i think its easy to map a route that would result in a different outcome depending on the model. just regarding angles, location etc
To buy a private plane
Then the gas needed to keep it flying then landing it to get it refueled etc
as i said im doing my license
