A) Refraction is a reality otherwise we would not see inferior/superior mirages or other refractive phenomena
B) Refraction is caused by the atmosphere bending light, therefore an object "appears" at a different location.
C) Inferior and superior mirages are examples of refraction causing a second "apparent" object or part of that object.
D) Just because we see these second "apparent" objects doesn't mean that the actual object isn't at a specific location.
E) Therefore since the refractive phenomena of looming causes the horizon to "appear" at a different location that doesn't mean the geometric horizon is not there.
F) This would be the same as saying that since a 6 ft person "appears" smaller when farther away then that person is no longer 6 ft tall.
