hmm so this doesnt tell me much. could you even measure earth rotation using the gyroscope he used? from your perspective if it was spinning? because a gyro like this will just stay on the same tilt that you put it down right?

it will hold to a point, if the earth rotates the original point held will move 15 degrees per hjour, this isnt observed
