Earth curvature is simple. When we don’t see any, why should we keep believing there is?

2020-02-15 22:57:53 UTC

ok so

2020-02-15 22:58:00 UTC

originally you were talking about vacuums

2020-02-15 22:58:13 UTC

Topics like that can take more time.

2020-02-15 22:58:17 UTC

and you didn't really answer me on that

2020-02-15 22:58:28 UTC

definitely, Derek

2020-02-15 22:58:49 UTC

octo i specifically said im not going into vacuums again because we completely go over each other

2020-02-15 22:58:54 UTC

my stronger point of debate

2020-02-15 22:58:57 UTC

is that photo i provided

2020-02-15 22:58:59 UTC

120,000ft altitude

2020-02-15 22:59:03 UTC

why is there no curvature?

2020-02-15 22:59:04 UTC

tell me that

2020-02-15 22:59:27 UTC

that's not all that high up

2020-02-15 22:59:42 UTC

not too high up, but high enough to see strong curvature according to the globe earth numbers

2020-02-15 23:00:00 UTC

your photo doesn't mean much.
I don't take much stock in photos from low earth orbit because what you see depends heavily on camera lens and field of view

2020-02-15 23:00:06 UTC

could you show those numbers?

2020-02-15 23:00:25 UTC

2020-02-15 23:00:32 UTC

you can get DRAMATICALLY different visuals depending on those variables.

2020-02-15 23:00:36 UTC

hard to tell by this picture

2020-02-15 23:00:47 UTC

also it'd be more useful to measure directly rather than just look with your naked eye

2020-02-15 23:01:00 UTC

earth's curvature calculator

2020-02-15 23:01:13 UTC

honestly man I HIGHLY recommend looking at Eric Dubay's videos

2020-02-15 23:01:25 UTC

he is the one I looked at for years to answer most general questions about the topic

2020-02-15 23:01:32 UTC

thats why it took me years to get serious

2020-02-15 23:01:44 UTC

after that time i became open to talking and debating about the subject

2020-02-15 23:02:11 UTC

these are all questions that he has hours of videos explaining

2020-02-15 23:02:20 UTC

so with that graph

2020-02-15 23:02:21 UTC

my simple words won't do anything when these questions are asked

2020-02-15 23:02:23 UTC

yeah?

2020-02-15 23:02:33 UTC

do the diagrams on the bottom show observed curvature or?

2020-02-15 23:02:46 UTC

yup

2020-02-15 23:03:01 UTC

good eye I didn't catch that

2020-02-15 23:03:06 UTC

so at 23 miles the curvature would be really negligible

2020-02-15 23:03:17 UTC

but still visible

2020-02-15 23:03:19 UTC

around 120000 feet

2020-02-15 23:03:29 UTC

maybe with a very precise ruler

2020-02-15 23:03:33 UTC

if I find a NASA video at a mere 80,000ft you will see heavy curvature

2020-02-15 23:03:35 UTC

kinda weird...

2020-02-15 23:03:52 UTC

At 120,000 feet, the view is several hundred miles in every direction 360 degrees.

2020-02-15 23:03:57 UTC

there are no nasa videos of earth that have 0 curvature at high altitude, when in reality, that's how it is

2020-02-15 23:04:37 UTC

At that height, we really should see something.
