2020-02-20 17:15:01 UTC

War

2020-02-20 17:15:45 UTC

just read a bit about the byzantine-persian wars

2020-02-20 17:15:58 UTC

i've read about them before but was reminded again

2020-02-20 17:16:08 UTC

it's crazy how brave soldiers and rulers were back then

2020-02-20 17:16:16 UTC

and how ready they were to die for God and country

2020-02-20 17:17:29 UTC

Yeah, War was profitable.

2020-02-20 17:17:47 UTC

it's not just about profits

2020-02-20 17:17:55 UTC

the politicians of that time weren't like they were today

2020-02-20 17:18:14 UTC

Its about war lmao

2020-02-20 17:18:17 UTC

this war in particular is interesting because byzantium was almost destroyed

2020-02-20 17:18:22 UTC

Profit is q new concept

2020-02-20 17:18:30 UTC

cant deny killing and raping was fun

2020-02-20 17:18:31 UTC

Confort IS a New concept aswell

2020-02-20 17:18:49 UTC

Back in the day people cared for things bigger than them generally

2020-02-20 17:18:53 UTC

Gtg

2020-02-20 17:19:22 UTC

Lemme find a quote by some mongols

2020-02-20 17:19:50 UTC

emperor heraclius took the treasury of constantinople on a ship and sent it to north africa, planning to move there because he was scared for his life

2020-02-20 17:20:15 UTC

but the bishop of constantinople convinced him to stay because it's his divine duty to protect the city

2020-02-20 17:20:23 UTC

and he managed to defeat the persians

2020-02-20 17:23:12 UTC

So, as the Great Khan said:

“Given that cooperation is not preferable or possible, and serfdom and slavery are costly, that leaves decimation, or rule for the maximization of profit.”

2020-02-20 17:23:45 UTC

fuck the great khan

2020-02-20 17:24:07 UTC

He's right

2020-02-20 17:25:38 UTC

“We might prefer the former or the latter. However the enemy would undoubtedly prefer separation to decimation or rule under out maximization of profit. And this is the wise choice. Since we can still cooperate indirectly by trade while having no influence over one another within the same polity.”

Russian airstrike has killed two turkish soldiers

2020-02-20 18:56:42 UTC

thank you Russia

2020-02-20 18:57:10 UTC

Theoretically this could activate NATO @OrthoGoat

2020-02-20 19:00:40 UTC

im happy that the turks are getting hit

2020-02-20 19:00:45 UTC

im not a big fan of them

2020-02-20 19:01:02 UTC

it would be interesting to see WW3 tho

2020-02-20 19:37:24 UTC

I'm not a big fan of Turks either, yet I'm quite troubled with Russian behavior. They act like they're friends with Turkey, while they're really not. What's for sure is that Turkey must be kicked out of NATO and be put in its place by the UN.

2020-02-20 19:51:10 UTC

thoughts on him?

2020-02-20 19:54:35 UTC

@Draško "He branded every sort of anti-Judaism unchristian. He further urged liberal Christians and Jews to ally in protecting both of their religions,"

2020-02-20 20:06:05 UTC

Sounds pretty based to me
