too real

2020-01-20 10:34:46 UTC

it's supposed to be fantasy @MountainMan

2020-01-20 10:36:58 UTC

Hmmm

2020-01-20 18:39:51 UTC

pretty funny

2020-01-22 14:52:34 UTC

On the whole concept of a state stealing magically abled children, or children who have shown an affinity on magic, is there any ideas you guys have where I could put up an ethical dilemma?

2020-01-22 14:53:58 UTC

Currently in the setting every child with natural abilities fpr the arcane (sorcerers) and the extreme indoktrinationen of certain children (wizards, paladins, and clerics) is there a situation I can put up infront of my players where I really can make them think about what is morally right to do?

2020-01-22 14:54:06 UTC

I need some ideas

2020-01-22 15:15:59 UTC

some kind of demon gate is being magically protected by the power of people who have magical ability, but it drains their very life force so that once it's used up they are frail and infirm. If nobody gives their power to the demon gate shield then the demons will come and kill everyone. children are screened for magic ability and if they're found positive they are taken away from their parents and sent to a commune to train/force them to exert their full ability, therefore ensuring the gate remains strong

2020-01-22 15:17:50 UTC

plenty of moral dilemmas can be extracted from that

2020-01-22 15:26:40 UTC

Ohhhhh thank you very much. this could be a great explanation to Why the city hasnt faced an onslaught of infernal beings after a certain cataclysmic event that happened in my games story

2020-01-22 17:11:54 UTC

You could have some kind of child that unfortunately has a taboo type of magic so instead of being taken away they are disposed of

2020-01-23 11:14:02 UTC

What would be a nice price for healing potions? No one in the party I DM for is a healer. So I want them to be able to at least be able to get some pots from time to time @Dust

2020-01-23 11:14:22 UTC

I am thinking around 40 gp for a 2d4+2? But I dont know if thats a good price

2020-01-23 11:28:11 UTC

just use the CRB with markup or whatever

2020-01-23 14:13:28 UTC

@MountainMan what edition

2020-01-23 14:18:43 UTC

5e. Newbie players snd I want to make them hooked. @galesteppes

2020-01-23 14:18:49 UTC

All first time players.

2020-01-23 14:21:09 UTC

Pretty sure a regular one is 50gp

2020-01-23 14:22:37 UTC

Indeed so. But I feel it could be a bit too much? Considering how much they Will rely on them

2020-01-23 14:25:46 UTC

You could give them the components to make them, requiring only time to create it

2020-01-23 15:59:41 UTC

or implement "lesser" potions

2020-01-23 16:01:31 UTC

regular is potion of healing is 2d4+2

2020-01-23 16:04:23 UTC

why the fuck isn't there sensible price lists in 5e

2020-01-23 16:04:55 UTC

potion of lesser healing 25/30gp for 1d4+1

2020-01-23 16:05:01 UTC

would probably be okay

2020-01-23 16:06:04 UTC

oh shit this is a good find

2020-01-23 16:07:21 UTC

it looks like each step of potion is 3x the previous tier

2020-01-23 16:07:32 UTC

so I guess make the lesser potion 15gp to follow the trend

2020-01-23 16:09:05 UTC

maybe just 1d4 instead of 1d4+1 idk they're so cheap that you could just spam the shit out of them lol

2020-01-23 16:48:55 UTC

I have had varying prices depending on where the players are, like in backwater towns they can easily stock up on shitty d4s for a couple gold, but in the city higher quality potions are available for higher prices.

2020-01-23 18:28:50 UTC

well RAW there is no shitty potion, balancing homebrew shit is kind of a chore, but it's easier when you have some kind of precedent to base it on

2020-01-23 18:31:50 UTC

maybe rather than reducing the effectiveness of the base potion you could make it generally lower quality like

2020-01-23 18:32:52 UTC

it costs 10gp, give you 2d4+2 but has a 50% of giving you 1d3 con damage

2020-01-23 18:32:58 UTC

2020-01-23 19:55:23 UTC

@Dust Chinese potions <:kek:590371888480387073>

2020-01-23 20:00:01 UTC

take 1d4 poison damage and roll a consave for disease @galesteppes

2020-01-23 20:00:20 UTC

Yes

2020-01-23 20:17:35 UTC

the potion heals you 5 hitpoints, but your max hp goes down
