If homosexuality is activated by the same genes that activate something else, like making someone's reflexes extremely high, then it might be a byproduct of something beneficial

2020-02-07 09:31:15 UTC

But I don't see a case beyond that

Plus the homosexual trait itself isn't beneficial, just a byproduct, in that situation.

2020-02-07 09:33:29 UTC

Also, why are we accepting that it is in fact genetic in the first place?

2020-02-07 09:34:18 UTC

well it's somewhat heritable

2020-02-07 09:34:21 UTC

If it were genetic, it would have a tendency not to be expressed after several generations, I'd think.

2020-02-07 09:34:41 UTC

I've not heard of this

2020-02-07 09:35:04 UTC

yeah identical twin of a homo has a 25-50% chance of also being a homo

2020-02-07 09:35:58 UTC

Plus, homosexuality is purely behavioral. It can be explained by upbringing. If you 'inherit' it from a parent, it might have simply been learned.

2020-02-07 09:36:58 UTC

I'm not saying it isn't genetic, but I don't think we can really determine one way or another. At least right now.

2020-02-07 09:37:58 UTC

I'm also going to assume that none of the twins studied had been separated for control.

2020-02-07 09:38:02 UTC

imo genetic + epigenetic effects are probably the largest contributors

2020-02-07 09:38:49 UTC

the thing is you can go down the list of relatedness, from identical to fraternal twins, to mere siblings, to cousins, etc. and find the decreasing correlation

2020-02-07 09:39:16 UTC

Hm.

2020-02-07 09:39:51 UTC

the birth order effect is a well recognised environmental//epigenetic effect

2020-02-07 09:40:05 UTC

like where sons born later are more likely to be homo

2020-02-07 09:40:38 UTC

Odd.

2020-02-07 09:42:12 UTC

at any rate, imo homos are self-evidently undesirable, because any reasonable person would prefer their children to not be, and if i put something in the water which made everyone a homo, this would be universally recognised as bad

2020-02-07 09:55:08 UTC

It would be recognised as such but wouldn't necessarily be bad.

2020-02-07 09:55:22 UTC

I'm not saying it wouldn't be bad, obviously.

2020-02-07 09:55:38 UTC

I'm just saying that this is actually up to a debate.

2020-02-07 09:56:18 UTC

Some people argue that bisexuality is actually the norm for humans and therefore the more bisexuals there are, the happier the people, the better for society.

2020-02-07 09:56:44 UTC

i agree somewhat, but only for women

2020-02-07 09:57:17 UTC

lesbianism is based?

2020-02-07 09:57:21 UTC

no

2020-02-07 09:57:26 UTC

lesbians are fucked in the head lol

2020-02-07 09:57:45 UTC

but women generally are aroused by sexual stimuli whether it involves men, women, or even animals

2020-02-07 09:58:44 UTC

yeah I've seen such points of view expressed

2020-02-07 09:58:52 UTC

except it was about men

2020-02-07 09:59:20 UTC

i knew I person who claimed that every men is naturally more gay than every non-lesbian woman out there

2020-02-07 10:01:28 UTC

well all the studies i've read on the matter indicate otherwise

2020-02-07 11:09:08 UTC

They lost Saraqib huh?

2020-02-07 11:36:47 UTC

TURKOIDS SEETHING

2020-02-07 11:47:04 UTC

So wait, are the Syrians doing a counter offensive and taking territory?

2020-02-07 11:47:44 UTC

@EnderOctanus The SAA have been kerb stomping the rebels for the last 3 years

2020-02-07 11:48:29 UTC

I meant, are they pushing for Turkey itself?

2020-02-07 11:49:02 UTC

They should just bomb civilians if it's full scale war. What else are you gonna do?

2020-02-07 11:49:24 UTC

no they are liberating the parts controlled by the turkish backed jihadists @EnderOctanus
