I nearly did economics myself, but I switched to physics early on. Baaaad mistake
And so it begins....
cooke
doctorate=broke
Failed undergrad = woke
But you get the title of doctor and the authority to do just about anything in your field @YeetshirtNinja
@Inter Astra false
^
you just get a degree and get to call yourself a ''doctor''
At the cost of 300K in student debt in the states, of course
you know i can get my license and shit to say doctor by checking a box at the dmv?#
didnt cost me 300k
probs why lots of my tutors got their doctorate
I can become a doctor but it doesn't give me the right to slap cats in my practice and call it research
just for the dr.
My 16-18 public college has about 3 doctors as teachers. Probably not worth all that work. That said their debt was probably 1/3 of what mine will be for just an undergrad degree
has doctorate.... still has to tutor to make ends meat....
great choice
Turtle makes bank and I'm pretty sure he just has his masters
Mmm theoretical organic biochem
Tutor is what people call university profs sometimes in the uk. Since ende is in uni I assume he means his profs
He is american and in a good field. + apparently he gets nearly free reign for what he does
Not part time maths tutors or something lol
I'd love to do what Turtle does, unfortunately I don't have the mind to do it
turt has what is basically my dream job.
Best I've done is the synthesis of pure aspirin
The only hard part was the hygiene
you do that at a level
still in the us getting a doctorate is pretty useless for most subjects unless someone else is paying for it.
if you're doing independent research, particularly in the sciences, you can do it affiliated with schools which means automatic accreditation if it's good enough, or could get an honorary
most of the ''doctors'' ive met are dead broke
Ye ma gay
there are exceptions but few
end up in the same job as having a masters and have crippling debt
Well yeah because there is still a tier system
@turtle
Oh noes
had a maths teacher who had a philosophy doctorate. that's about as soft as i can accept, in english and shit like shit's pointless.
Doctorates in mathematics and science fields almost certainly yield better careers
Doctorates are best for stem and really depends where you are. In certain parts of the US MD holders can make 500k+ depending on what they specialize in
