They didn't get wealthy because of higher tariffs, but because of lowering it
China has cut its average tariff by nearly 90 percent since the 1990s, from a very high 32.2% to 3.5% and during that period, their economy thrived
If Trump wants other nations to get rid of their tariffs altogether, then fine, but launching unnecessary trade wars with our allies and harming consumers and workers in the process when this can simply be resolved through talks is hilariously stupid
At first all the "experts" said, the economy will crash under trump if he's elected, then they said, hitting 3%GDP was impossible, now they say tariffs are bad. They are not experts but opposition. His policies are working and thriving. I'm not disagreeing that tariffs are bad, everyone thrives better without them, but they are needed now in the short run to retaliate due to 30 years of neglect and them not coming to the table on them. It brings the issues to the table directly as well.
if they are allies why are they tariffing our goods at 400% or more in some instances
That's a lot of text

@FriarPop So essentially you're for anything these so called "experts" in your view are against, correct because muh globalism or some shit?
400%? LMAO
Where the fuck did you get those numbers? Charlie Kirk?
Every country has been steadily reducing their tariff rates long before Trump started his trade war with our allies, like Japan, the EU, Canada, including the United States, until Trump had to fuck it up and then they placed RETALIATORY tariffs on us in response to Trump's moronic move
This is a graph chart proving my point that countries *have* been lowering their tariff rates over time
Here's an example these existed before trump, you clearly do not pay any attention to economics.
270% on our dairy
*The North American Free Trade Agreement between the United States, Canada, and Mexico entered into force on January 1, 1994. Under NAFTA, trade in all industrial goods between the United States and Canada became duty-free on January 1, 2008.*
Come on man
don't be disingenuous

your only point has been that tariffs are bad in the short run but nobody disagreed with you
I made that point and that nations have LOWERED their tariffs over time
not increased
yeah, nobody is disagreeing with you, it makes sense to lower them over time
And that all industrial goods between Canada and the US have become duty free
@FriarPop Which they have without Trump's retarded tariffs 🙄
Now they're increasing them because we've launched full scale trade wars with them simply because of Trump's ignorance of basic economic understanding
No
Jfc
No?
Tell me where Im wrong
Increasing tarrifs makes using local sources a a viable option when importing is so cheap, boosting local production
Tariffs protect industries at the expense of the consumer which they get hit the hardest
Besides, Trade deals aren't the existential threat facing factory workers
There is a cost to everything
