Except arguably materialism does have an effect

2018-09-03 01:00:16 UTC

If materialism isn’t inherently good or bad in your definition then it’s pretty useless to use to rely on it as something of value. It’s light pointing at a human and saying “you’re a human” you’re not adding anything.

2018-09-03 01:00:23 UTC

As it appears along with the degeneration of immaterialism

2018-09-03 01:00:29 UTC

Which is the birthed state of society

2018-09-03 01:00:41 UTC

Materialism isn't inherently bad as it cannot be altered

2018-09-03 01:00:59 UTC

So there's no purpose classifying something that just is as bad or good

2018-09-03 01:01:04 UTC

It simply exists

2018-09-03 01:01:14 UTC

If materialism isn’t bad then why you go around calling people materialists as an insult?

2018-09-03 01:01:17 UTC

However we can see how it exists more and more as society ages

2018-09-03 01:01:53 UTC

Because it is an insult in so far as they are ignorant to reality outside themselves just as most people are

2018-09-03 01:02:02 UTC

But it isn't necessarily bad

2018-09-03 01:02:09 UTC

Or rather they aren't bad because of it

2018-09-03 01:02:11 UTC

Ignorance is a bad thing.

2018-09-03 01:02:16 UTC

They like materialism exist in the natural human state

2018-09-03 01:02:20 UTC

And it’s bad because you said yourself it’s an insult.

2018-09-03 01:03:02 UTC

You’re taking a working definition of materialist and stretching it to something where it’s no longer valuable.

2018-09-03 01:03:04 UTC

Insults don't mean out rightly something negative necessary, it is a statement about a condition that is in negation to your own imo

2018-09-03 01:03:20 UTC

necessarily*

2018-09-03 01:03:43 UTC

ma·te·ri·al·ist
məˈtirēələst/
noun
1.
a person who considers material possessions and physical comfort as more important than spiritual values.
"greedy materialists lusting for consumer baubles"

2018-09-03 01:03:47 UTC

Good definition ^

2018-09-03 01:04:27 UTC

Yes because dictionary definitions are always on point, but also can I just say that the beauty of the romantic language in this regard is that words can have various meanings

2018-09-03 01:04:39 UTC

Also I literally had to tell you why materialism was bad earlier.

2018-09-03 01:04:49 UTC

Hmm?

2018-09-03 01:04:51 UTC

When Levi asked

2018-09-03 01:04:58 UTC

Remind me what happened

2018-09-03 01:05:56 UTC

@Deleted User that statement which I made follows the same argument I am using now

2018-09-03 01:05:59 UTC

This is just more in depth

2018-09-03 01:06:09 UTC

So you apparently explained nothing or did it badly because I do not agree

2018-09-03 01:06:30 UTC

No I get though. You’re not technically wrong. It’s just a useless.

2018-09-03 01:07:01 UTC

You’re just creating a shitty definition of something

2018-09-03 01:07:06 UTC

Use a new word

2018-09-03 01:07:08 UTC

I think it's existence in relation to history and culture are interesting

2018-09-03 01:07:24 UTC

Materialism is a suitable word

2018-09-03 01:07:27 UTC

You’ve literally just created a new definition of a word.

2018-09-03 01:07:32 UTC

Mmhmm

2018-09-03 01:07:35 UTC

No, it’s not. It already means something else.

2018-09-03 01:07:37 UTC

Many authors have done that

2018-09-03 01:08:05 UTC

Also materialism conveys a recognized state

2018-09-03 01:08:12 UTC

It is associated with things that align with my definition

2018-09-03 01:08:18 UTC

Mine only digs deeper

2018-09-03 01:08:54 UTC

Yes. It stretches it and takes the value away. Because materialism which is something that is bad is no longer bad in your definition
