Note that sentience is not a key for what people would call a true AI

The one key thing that holds computers back from being true AIs is *can it learn*

true

we already have ai per se

Because we can make computers good at a specific task by programming them to do that task

But we can't make a computer that learns to do a task on its own

That's the most basic and easily accessible definition of a true AI

Theoretically it's technologically possible
