@imig Of the examples shown here, it seems the KJV is the only one that leaves the purifying to God alone. I will leave the door open for man to agree with the means of the purifying, though it be hard on the flesh. It takes a willing participant, after all.

of those 3 pages
ASV
AMPC
CEB
CJB
ERV
ESV
ESVUK
are the ones that say *"yourself"*
all the others on those 3 pages do not.
so KJV seems to be part of the majority.
@imig I didn't realize there were so many different versions. Amazing. It's okay. It gave me a chance to talk about the idea that my salvation doesn't depend on what I do but what He has already done.
I only need to accept his great love toward us. Anything I do after that will only be as a sign of my gratitude, except for the times I stumble and fall. Even then I am grateful He is there to pick me up and, if necessary, give me a little correction.

Ephesians 4:1-6
[1]Therefore I, a prisoner for serving the Lord, beg you to lead a life worthy of your calling, for you have been called by God.
[2]Always be humble and gentle. Be patient with each other, making allowance for each other’s faults because of your love.
[3]Make every effort to keep yourselves united in the Spirit, binding yourselves together with peace.
[4]For there is one body and one Spirit, just as you have been called to one glorious hope for the future.
[5]There is one Lord, one faith, one baptism,
[6]one God and Father of all,
who is over all, in all, and living through all.
@Cindy Jo Just curious - what bible version are you using?
@Shadetree49 NLV it's the version on my phone app. I read various versions.
@Shadetree49 Sorry it's NLT 😁
It's good to read and compare but I prefer KJV
I grew up with KJV
My mother was Methodist so hers was RSV then NIV. When I accepted salvation in 1973 It was in a church that used KJV.
Yeah that makes me pretty old.
I was saved in 1973 also I was 15 so yeah I'm old. LOL
