I understand their position and why they think it should be chosen at birth, but they make it sound like the only time you can have a circumcision is when you came out of the womb an hour ago
In some cases they give the baby sugar and clamp it. I think some do full anesthetize, or numb the area, but it's still going to hurt the baby a lot when that wears off - and that's something that most people forget about. Surgery hurts for days or weeks after it is performed.
It's mostly nerve blocks and other analgesics. Up until 97 only 46% of those who did circumcisions used any pain management according to a study given to the NIH.
A few video's of girls being circumcised in Somalia were posted to twitter a few weeks ago. They were brutal, but they got huge metrics and generated immense awareness.
Right now, I'm downloading male infant circumcision videos off Youtube and seeing if I can expose the reality through this same avenue.
Oof. I've seen one myself and don't want to watch another. I try to make the argument that people should educate themselves, but there's a massive unwillingness for people to do so.
I hear you. Watching a video is almost a necessary element of the education process though for many individuals to understand it is genital torture and mutilation.
That's great it did, I'm surprised there no accusations of paedophilia and such though, 'why are you so concerned with little kids genitals' etc, even when you're against anything being done to them x_x

I hope so. Don't pin your hopes on it getting as much as one about FGM though, we can't be at that point yet. But every thing like this helps to spread more awareness and conversation about MGM
